Hi everyone, I’m looking for help identifying a rash and figuring out how concerned I should be.
I’m male. The rash appeared very suddenly overnight and is on the penile shaft and pubic region. It is raised, red, and very itchy. It is not really painful, though it can burn a little after scratching. I do not have pain with urination, discharge, fever, body aches, or obvious swollen groin lymph nodes.
Relevant context:

I was in a hot tub the night before it appeared

I also have a somewhat similar rash on my forearm from a hike a few days earlier

The forearm rash showed up first and is now partly healing

The genital rash seems more widespread and came on fast
From the photos, does this look more consistent with something like:

folliculitis / hot tub rash

contact dermatitis / allergic reaction

What seems atypical or typical for herpes here? One thing I’m trying to understand is whether herpes would usually erupt this widely and this quickly in a single night, especially when the rash is mostly itchy rather than painful.
