All 6 doctors say everything looks ok!!

I've had inner ear infections from time to time all my life (I'm 70).  In April 2013 I had my left knee replaced.  I was fine till the young boy who pushed my bed from recovery to my room.  He thought it was a race.  I was dizzy and throwing up by the time I got to my room.  This presisted for 5 months. Every once in awhile I'll get the symptoms when sitting or laying down but mostly if I get up and move around for more then 5 or 10 mins. I have to sit and wait for it to pass.  Just thought it was inner ear.  Well, it started again about 4 mos ago.  Went to GP who treated for inner ear.  Didn't help at all.  He sent me to an ENT.  He did an MRI of my brain.  Nothing.  He sent me to a neurologist. He said there was a shadow on the MRI so did 2 more.  Finally said there was a cyst on my spine.  Sent me to a Neurological Surgeon. (Oh and my GP sent me for an endoscopy because she thinks it;s my stomach...no way.  Found nothing). The surgeon looked at all the MRI's, Cat Scan.  She said the cyst was small and not a problem.  She sent me to another ENT who does work with Vestibular issues.  They did the test for that.  Called me today and said....inner ear is normal.  No idea!  I can't walk through my house without getting nauseous and dizzy.  What do I do now? I own a 24/7/365 Answering Service...for 37 yrs.  If no one can tell me anything I'm just going to assume that God has a reason for this and wait for the answer.  Any ideas?

They say dizziness comes from ear brain or it could even be your eyes......What teets did they do for the ear?????

tests

The woman who did the test said you have 3 body system to keep you balanced...eyes, ears and your legs.  First they did a hearing test which was fine.  Then a 1 1/2 hrs test.  They put goggles on me and the room was very low light.  There was a bar on the wall and red lights ran across or vertical and I had to follow them with my eyes.  Another was laying me back in the chair and bringing me up quickly.  Yes it made me a little dizzy but then, I'm 70 yrs old *L*.  I laid there and the computer was working and she asked me questions.

She said you aren't scored on them it's just a distraction so I think it's to keep your brain active so the computer and measure stuff.  Things like that.  That was Friday.  This morning the nurse called said the doctor had watched the test and everything in my inner ear and brain are fine.  Wanted to send me to a Neurologist and I told them she sent me to him.  So everyone says nothing is wrong with my ears, eyes but I still can't move around for more then 5 to 10 mins without getting deathly sick and dizzy.  If I don't sit or lay down I will begin to heave and throw up.  It's hard to get anything done.  Thanks for asking.  Have you had this?

OMG i had MRI MRA with and  without contrast balance test caloric test gaze test rotary chair  2 ent drs...one was an idiot......lol  one neurologist who refered me over to a specialist for headaches.....according to drs I have vestibular migraines....acoording to me they have no idea whats going on...this dr I am seeing now I like alot very thorough...first she said oh its this  then she said oh its this and now she thinks its something else....but we are going to get to the bottom of this...meanwhile she doesnt accept my insurance   The Mra i had of front and back of neck was fine  she was the second dr that looked at it....now she is saying one artery is wide opened and the other one is opened but its narrow...but it does fall into normal range    sending me for more MRI and MRA  didnt even call today   I got so scared whwn she said this   dont smoke drink cholestral good.....blood pressure basically pre hypertension....can you guess why?????   On a very low dose.........I heard of something called vertical heterophia... mimic vestibular disorders...oh vestibular rehab 3 months..........couldnt drive 5 months........

never threw up  but God the vertigo was so bad  last year dec 23 in ER.......and I had xmas dinner to do....Thought I would be good this year....ok better but this is horrible horrible.....only people going through this understands....BY the way  70 years young.........

Here's the thing.  The dizziness is only a little for me.  But every doctor I went to was excited about testing that issue.  Till finally I got mad and told one that I didn't give a fig about that I wanted something to stop the damn nausea!  But nothing works for it.  I will NOT stop till I get an answer especially after reading that More Vertigo Potential post.  That's scary.  Keep me updated on you and I will on me.  Thanks so much. It's good to talk to someone who understands.  My son went to all dr appts with me because he knew I wouldn't remember all that doctor speak *L*.  But he told the doc....you don't understand my Mom is a pusher.  She will push herself to exhaustion to finish something so she's throwing up a lot.  But God showed me I MUST slow down.  It's not easy though *L*. I'll be praying for you Sweetie!

I just Googled that vertical heterophia...sounds weird *L*.  But then my best friend says that in the dictionary next to the word weird is my picture *L*.  I've lived my life with the idea that if it can't happen, it will happen to me *L*.  don't give up Sweetie.  We will beat this....if it's God's will and I think it is.

thank you so much....most encouraging words I have heard so far....Glad someone is going with you........This whole situation is weird....ok keep posting.........Alot of people are suffering with this....I never realized how many people this is affecting..........I just happened to go on and now I talk to more people than ever.....Its a good thing.........

Hello Jerry,

I have a lifetime of problems with the spine, inner ear, migraine, balance etc. I am NOT A DOCTOR, nor do I profess to know what is wrong with you, as I have never met you, nor do I know your medical history. What I would say is that all the usual things like BPPV, mini stroke after surgery should have been ruled out with your further tests at Neuro and ENT.

I would, therefore, be interested to know if you perhaps had an epidural for your surgery and also where the cyst is located. Rather than have you reply and then me write back - if these all add up, so to speak, I might suggest that the cyst, though small, could be something called a TARLOV CYST. If it is, it can be caused by epidural injection, or a previous one, it can make you nauseous, dizzy, off balance, and also cause headaches - spinal headaches (migraine). Of course, the cysts can form without epidural and all along the spine at any level, but as you mentioned surgery.

As I have already said, I am NOT A DOCTOR, and this is a shot in the dark, from your brief original summary. But, I had to reply to you - all the very best. I hope it all works out for the best.

Sounds pretty aweful😦. Have you been tested for carotid artery? Heart is o.k? Like one person said the location of the cyst?

It is so frustrating when you are faced with health issues that can not be answered. Keep trying. .it can't be just nothing? I wish you the best in finding the issue.

Not sure what medications you are on but if you are on a few or anything new since problems began. Have a chat with your pharmacist sometimes they are excellent at finding issues that involve side effects to medications.

1. Not all doctors are created equal.  Sad, but true.  Did you have a CT scan of your sinuses and vestibular area?  Was that included on the MRI?  Do you potentially have arterial schlerosis?  (Another potential cause!)  Did they test you for BPPV?  (It's a simple, five minute test in the exam room).  GET A SECOND OPINION~

Read about how eyes play a role in your balance.  Although DIZZINESS can result from new glasses/contacts, and they are part of the system that tells your brain information, eye problems don't "normally" play a HUGE role in causing actual VERTIGO.  Not sure if you're getting dizziness or spinning (vertigo).  Trust me, those are two different things!

remember Jerry70, that more vertigo potential causes is for VERTIGO, not dizziness.  Vertigo is spinning that doesn't cease for up to several days.  Any movement causes inability to do anything but lay in bed, since you can't tell where in the world you are!  Sounds like something that can be manageable and less severe.  Hope you get better!

No new meds that they have given me except protonic and this started months before that.  The only meds I take are B-12 shot once a month and thyroid that I've taken for years.  No heart issues.  I'm really in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in *L*.

All I know about the cyse is it's on my spine not too far down.  I can NOT remember what they called that area.  However, the Neurology surgeon showed us a grey streek down 1 side of my spine and said she had NO idea what that was but since it didn't hurt she wouldn't reccomend any surgery.  I wasn't planning on any*L*. They did 3 MRI's a Cat Scan, Endoscopy and the vestibular testing.

Good for you

hi Genine....I heard of something called vertical heterophia that can gice you the same symptoms as vestibular issues...Do you know anything about it...Any information is helpful
