I'm 29 years old, I suffer from anxiety and OCD (continual toughts) since my teenage.
10 years ago I was put on paroxetine and olanzapine and it works well for me. But after 2 years I start feeling some dyskinesia on my face, so I wean my self gradually. But from time to time I took paroxetine depending on my mood.
2 years ago I start feeling some anxiety so I decided to take paroxetine. But this time it give me paradoxal effect : more anxiety, depersonnalization, derealization ... all kind of terrible things. So the psychiatrists start to give me all kind of antidepressants, with nooo difference, always the same result. I tried several times to wean myself old turkey or slowly but I can't as It give me more and more anxiety. I'm like in vicious circle and I don't know how to, just, go back on my little anxiety and manage it.
I'm 24 and I suffer from anxiety too. GAD. Thanks for posting this I was taking olanzapine too. I will have to get it again. Once I go back to my doctor. I'm always cautious of what medication I take. Always look at the side effects and at the precautions before taking them. Your GP won't tell you about this. Well mine didn't tell me about the risks while taking my medication. I have depersonalization too. I feel like in a trance most of the time. I feel everything is unreal like a dream. Anyways the depersonalization can be caused by your Anxiety. I had searched it came out. Under lots of stress our mind reacts this way it's a "escape." Just needed to say that Good Luck and hope you find the right meds. I started taking stronger meds like Xanax but it's only used short term. Try to get a therapist if you don't have one already. Sometimes Doctors add a medication to weane you off another one. Ask your GP.👍I heard Omega 3 pills help.
Thanks for you reply, hope you are doing fine. (Sorry if I don't speak well English as I come from a country where French is our second local language) So In the case of Olanzapine, It was the cause why I stopped my treatment, as it gives me involuntary movements on my face, it was very disturbing for me... . And the antidepressants cause some troubles like loss in memory, sexual disfunctions ... Seriously I feel like the psychiatry is very far from providing us good solutions for our problems. Actually I'm taking Fluoxetine and I plan to wean off this med gradually (but I'm taking Lexomil also, it's like xanax to support anxiety ...) Personnaly, I would suggest you to not go back to your intial medication, and try something natural, like you say Omega3, there is also Saint jhon's worth, I read a lot of studies about it, it can replace antidepressants, maybe you can give it a try before restarting taking antidepressants. There are a lot of other solutions, but medical industries try to hide it from us ...
I'm doing fine hope you are too. I agree with everything you said. Medications can hurt us more than help. Its always better before taking something to be aware of the side effects and look at the precaution warnings. Just because its natural medicine doesnt mean it cant harm us. Always be on the safe side. For instance, St John's Wort can cause cataracts which lead to blindness if you don't treat the cataracts. Now that you mentioned the side effect you had I won't take Olanzapine thanks for the heads up.
Sorry I didn't know for the ataracts. I have some of SJW and they don't mention it hh. But anyway if SJW can cause Atracts, so antidepressants can cause it too, as they affect serotonin levels in our brain. By the way, your derealization is gone or stil ? I have derea and deper too, but in my case the antidepressants are the cause.
I had searched it online that's how I knew about the Cataracts. I still have depression and derealization. I'm still stuck in my mind. The cause of my derealization and depr is because of my Anxiety.
Hum I see, we are in the same boat :D ... Anyway I had derealization too, two years ago, without taking any drugs, but it disapears after a while without any treatment. I think maybe our brain can recover by itself
