all sorts of things

I'm having depo medrone injection and working brilliantly except they don't last the three weeks. I have had one 10 days ago and running out. I also now have frequent urinary infections, cramp at night. However I did manage to drive150 miles today to pick up stepson for Easter. Completely knackered but feel good I did it

Hilary, you need to find out if the frequent UTI's are a side effect of the medication or because your auto immune system is compromised because of the medication. Urinary infections are no laughing matter, especially if one occurs end of Friday gp surgery, I can't think of where you could go to get some antibiotics over the weekend.

have a great Easter with the family. With regards, christina

Is it a UTI or is it just cystitis? Cystitis is an inflamed bladder and can be caused by a lot of things. It is very common for the symptoms to occur in PMR and not necessarilly due to a bacterial infection.

It is sometimes just irritable bladder syndrome and there is medication for that which may help.

In some cases it can be due to incomplete emptying of the bladder - make sure you have squeezed the last drops of urine out.

Have urine cultures done to see if it is really a bacterial infection.

Are you on calcium supplements? Some people form calcium grit (for want of a better word) and this can cause problems if you have a day where you don't drink enough (like when driving 150 miles...) Happened to me all the time until I managed to put 2 and 2 together.

Night cramps - take magnesium supplements (from a chemist or H&B). First thing you are told to do for muscle cramp anywhere in Europe besides the UK who say it doesn't work. Yes it does, pred makes you lose more magnesium through your kidneys.

Happy Easter...

The joy just keeps on coming with this bloody condition doesn't it?!!!

Hilary i had a lot of urinary infections had to take penicillian which was not good for me, then started eating asparugus 2 or 3 times a week, after a friend told me it was a diretic, this might help you .

i will second that, you can be ok for a few days, and then BANG off you go just when you thought all was well

Just hold on to the thought that it could be far worse: PMR may be a pain in the butt but it isn't a terminal diagnosis. Once you get the hang of it you will find coping mechanisms and learn to manage a decent quality of life. And for many people it disappears into the ether where it came from after a few years.

hope so
