I have read previous posts with other people having normal ultrasound and normal HIDA Scan.....I’m in the same boat! I actually had a gallbladder attack during my HIDA scan AND the tech that was doing the scan said it was the largest gallbladder she had ever seen! I just got a call from my surgeons office and they told me everything was normal......WHAT????! How can that be? I truly feel like I am losing my mind. How can I have all this pain and nothing is wrong? I am going back to the Doctor next week. He wants me to go to a GI doctor. For what? More tests that are going to come back negative? I am at a loss! Why is it so hard to diagnose a bad gallbladder? I had read about many people in the same situation and the doctor finally agrees to take it out and they find out the gallbladder was bad.
What was your % of the hida scan
They didn’t tell me. My doctors nurse called and said everything was normal. I was so shocked that I didn’t think to ask.
What are your symptoms i would ask what it was if it’s more then 75% your gallbladder is over working that what I have I have had so many texts done and the hida scan come back at 88% they say it’s normal too but it’s not there is lots of us that suffer till we get the right Dr to that believes in a over working gallbladder it’s called hyperkinetic gallbladder
Pain on my right side just below my ribs. Pain in my right shoulder. My symptoms start several hours after eating fatty foods. They don’t start right away. Sometimes my entire stomach hurts and I get nauseous.
Ok I hope you found out soon what’s going on
What did they do for yours?
Nothing yet I go see a surgeon on the 27th and hopefully he will take it out I have been in pain since dec I just had my hida scan 3 weeks ago I feel like I’m getting worse this past week I have pain no matter what I eat I have pain on both sides and in my back I have had yellow stools and I’m nauseous but not all the time it comes and goes very few weeks
Did you do endoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out no issues?
Good luck! I hope they take it out and give you some relief. Let me know how it goes.
No. I have only had an ultrasound and HIDA scan.
Thank you i will
Could be your liver ! I had my gallbladder removed just over 5 months ago and
I'm still in pain , still feel sick and have developed other symptoms.
I've had a blood test that shows could be liver problems.
Hope you get sorted soon . Get them to do a blood test for liver .
Thank you. They did a blood test to check my liver before I had my HIDA scan and everything was fine. I go back to the dr on Thursday. The thing I am curious about is if my scan was normal why did the tech who was doing the test say my gallbladder was one of the largest she has seen. I’m not very big.....size 4!!! I think the dr got the results back and saw a normal function and that was it. So frustrating!
Hi, I had a HIDA scan done last year, it came back normal, but in Jan (2018), I had to get my gallbladder removed. I was having severe pain & nausea. Everything I ate, caused me issues. I do have fatty liver disease, but once my gallbladder was removed, and I had blood work done a few weeks after, my liver count was lower. I would be persistent with your doctor. I kept going back to my doctor complaining about pain & nausea, until I was finally referred.
Hope everything works out for you.
Kelly- I just got back from the surgeon. My HIDA scan was 87%. He said that he could take it out but he would feel better if I went to a GI doctor to be safe. He said it could be Sphincter of Oddi. If that’s the case surgery won’t help. He said that he was pretty sure that the GI doctor would send me back to him for surgery. Finally! Some answers!!!!![]()
That’s awesome I’m hoping I get answers next week when I see the surgeon if he says he will take it out I’m getting mine out lol there is also a fb page of other ppl going though the something as ya if u want to check it out it’s called hyperkinetic gallbladder’s
