Almost 2yrs after first thr and now i think i need the other one doing

Well its been almost 2yrs since my first THR and i thought things were going great, I was told when they xrayed my bad hip i’ve had replaced that there was deterioration in the other one but never thought for a minute i would need it done so soon. Everything seemed fine until about a week ago when I started to get the exact same kind of pain again only this time it seems to be lasting longer and I honestly feel like I could drop to the floor when it twinges. I can’t even get a docs appt for 2wks to get the ball rolling so wish me luck!

Hiya Kel40

well yep i can wish you all the best with your possible THR, I’ve seen folk on this site have their second hip op only months after the first one :+1:
Come Monday can you not call the doctors and try for a cancellation or try see if ya can’t get in this week. How did ya get on with the first THR, if all went well then the second could just be as good,

Stay Safe & Stay Happy

Hi Kel,

Good luck with getting a referral to the consultant, waiting to see the consultant was the longest part for me, after that everything moved rapidly.

We moved to a new area 18 months ago and it was a nightmare to get an appointment at the medical centre, hubby got fed up, after a year we changed practices. At this one we can see the doctor the same morning and he does not kick you out after discussing one thing.

i had my right hip replaced 3 years ago ans was told that the left would need doing one day !
i started getting excruciating pain down my left leg and kept going to the doctor who just gave me pain killers and thought it was sciatica.
it has got really bad and i had an MRI which shows bone on bone and have an appointment with my hip consultant on November 5th
i do not want it done but cannot cope with the pain so i hope he will put me on his list
get it over with asap

I do wish you luck. I had my right hip done 11 weeks ago on Monday and I could see a bit of deterioration on the left one on my last x-ray. I’m hoping it’ll settle down as, although my recovery has been amazingly quick and without pain or problems, I don’t really want to go through it all again unless I really have to and certainly not for some years!
