Almost 4 weeks post op posterior repair, feeling a lump

Hi ladies, as per the title, I am coming up to the 4 week post op mark following a TVT and a posterior repair, recovery has been up and down with a couple of urine infections thrown in the mix!

My latest issue I'm a little concerned about is the lump feeling I have at the entrance of my new vagina, it feels like the old prolapse and I am just so tempted to insert my fingers and shove it back in place! Like I used to. I obviously can't do this due to stitches and pain. I was hoping it was swelling from op but now I'm thinking it maybe just the new me? It's worse when I walk or do pelvic floor exercises, I have looked with a mirror and can't see a bulge.

Iam on first name terms with the Gynae staff and starting to feel like my GP lets out a little sigh when he sees my name 😂 so would rather get some peer opinions before I contact them!

Thanks in advance xxx

I am now 7 1/2 weeks post-op for cystocele (anterior) repair. At around 2 1/2 week postop, I felt like I was bulging like I did before surgery. I looked and I did have a small bulge. The bulging feeling like I was falling out was mostly due to the swelling and surgery, and resolved itself with time, healing and sitting on ice packs. I still have a residual cystocele, stage 1. My doctor told me NOT to do any pelvic floor exercises until I was COMPLETELY healed. My next post-op appointment is a 10 weeks. It was worse for me when I walked or stood for any length of time also.

The approval for pelvic floor exercises varies greatly from doctor to doctor ranging from immediately to not until completely healed. Myself, I couldn't imagine doing them yet at your point. I am 55 and in pretty good shape and I look forward to the exercises after I am healed.

Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon!

God Bless!

Trish

Babycatcher,

I am one of the ladies that used Lynn's garment AFTER my surgery. I used it during the period I was so swollen & felt like I was falling out. The difference with and without it was very noticeable. I felt less pain and falling out feeling, and when I had to be on my feet, it helped immensely. I still have a stage 1 cystocele and I still use it when I have to be on my feet a lot. Before surgery I was stage 3-4.

It's nice to know the options available. Hope this helps.

God bless!

Trish

Also forgot to tell you, I really started feeling much better by 6 weeks post-op. Have to remind yourself at that point that even though you feel well and like you can do things, you can't do everything. You are still healing and want to give your body the best chance to heal that you possibly can.
