Always feels like i'm dying or I have some terrible disease, anyone else?

I'll try to keep this short. I don't know exactly what triggered it, but about 3-4 months ago I got anxiety. I'm a 19 year old male, and anxiety does run in my family, my dad and grandparents take anxiety medication. I was in flordia and got up early to go to disneyland, and out of no where I got really spinny and I almost fainted, an ambulance showed up and said that nothing was really wrong. I came back home and a month later I had another bad panic attack, so I went to the ER this time.

They did EKG, Chest X-ray, and a lot of bloodwork, but they assured me that everything was fine, blood pressure was normal, iron levels were good, no blood clots, etc.

So after this panic attack my doctor prescribed me Wellbutrin 150mg for my anxiety, and as a lot of people know, this medicine is a hit or miss. It either can help or drastically make it worse and for me It made it worse. After 30 days of taking it I felt like I couldn't breathe at 1am so I went to my parents, slept for two hours then woke up with terrible chest pain and wheezing and it felt like I was having a heart attack or PE.

So I had my dad take me to the ER. They did another EKG, Chest X-ray, and more bloodwork. Again, nothing showed up. The doctor said this is very common in people who have severe anxiety.

That was today, the day i'm posting this.

My doctor now has me leaning off Wellbutrin and has be starting to take Escitalopram 10mg (which is actually meant to help anxiety). A lot of good reviews about this drug but i'm obviously nervous since the side effects of wellbutrin sucked, and these will most likely suck as well.

Moral of the story, does anyone else feel like they're having chest pain 24/7? I constantly think something is wrong with me and get freaked out. I am stressing out a little because my job that once paid amazing took a huge dump on me, my grandpa passed, and my relationship with my girlfriend is going down hill and i'm moving out. So maybe it's just the amount of stress? I don't know, I just want some of your thoughts! It would help me out a lot!

Thank you!

If you had ekg, blood work, chest X-ray , your symptoms are most likely due to anxiety and stress. You are going through a lot and the body can only take so much stress before it shows up as symptoms.  That happened to me in my twenties.

And yes, stress can produce your symptoms. Your heart is fine.  Adrenaline is released during anxiety which creates symptoms .

If you react with anxiety, symptoms get worse.

It’s really important to calm yourself down and practice this when you feel fairly relaxed.  Then use it when you feel anxiety coming on.

Theres a great audio on you tube for anxiety that focuses on your breathing called

Mindfulness breathing Guided meditation 10 minutes.   Listen carefully and use earbuds if you have them.

There are also meditations for Panic, Sleep, Anxiety, depression etc

I Listen daily.  They totally calm down my mind, body and symptoms.

I also got counseling which helped me gain control over anxiety and stress.

YYou could benefit from talking to someone who could help you deal with your losses and anxiety.

Symptoms of anxiety are not the problem. The problem is unmanaged anxiety which causes symptoms.

Youre gonna be ok! ❤️😁

This is very reassuring to hear! I am going to start seeing someone in about 4-6 weeks for therapy, they take a long time to get a hold of sadly.

But I will also try the meditation and hope it helps! Thank you

By the way, I Also thought I had a terrible disease in my twenties but every symptom was caused by anxiety and stress.

Im now in my fifties and doing well.  I’m living proof that anxiety Symptoms can’t hurt you.

Yes is normal feeling chest pain 24/7 when you suffering from anxiety I used to have them like that a year ago I overcame anxiety a year ago with mindfulness and  retraining my brain to think positive  of course some I get a little little bit of anxiety but no more panic attacks no more  depressions no more high anxiety  I feel normal

Ya man, I had the same things happen at 26. Grandmother passed. Broke up with girl. Graduated college, started a new job. Then I had the constant chest pain. I started to jog, take xanex and then got on prozac. I jogged with the pain for 2 weeks and it went away. Scary s**t . I still deal with scary s**t andim 46. Sometimes your first is the worst man. It gets easier but never gets less scary. Just get a program. Im currently starting a new program of serzone, clonopin, to get me through a current hump I have of anxiety. Be patient. It may take 3 months, or up to a year to fully recover the first time you have this. Sucks yes, but be hopeful my dad always said. IT WILL PASS.

I appreciate you sharing your story! Gives me a lot of comfort!

Starting the pills tomorrow, gonna suck first few weeks, but i'll do a lot to get rid of this damn feeling!

Your not alone. Im going through it too right now. ONe day at a time. Runs on my moms side of the family also. I about 4 weeks in, but I expect another month to get me feeling "Ok". at least.  Don't listen to everyone, everyones body is different and been through different things. Just focus on yourself. You may be find in 2 weeks. And if it goes longer, so be it.

Best free reading I have ever used.  Easy and fun. Read it all.

I had chest pain out of nowhere for three days straight when I went to urgent Care. I don't have health insurance so the doctor didn't do any tests. He assured me it was anxiety because my heart sounded fine, my blood pressure is normal and I don't have any risk factors. That was in the summer and I've had episodes since, sometimes it's pain and sometimes it's palpatations or strange feelings in my chest. I went again recently for a different chest pain and again the doctor didn't seem concerned, saying it could be from the cold I had (I work with children so I'm always sick and coughing this time of year) and anxiety. Had another episode today but I'm trying to tell myself I'm okay. I finally signed up for health insurance so I can have a primary doctor and get some testing done to ease my mind since I'm still paranoid something is wrong. It seems like I'm not alone though which is reassuring.

I hope the medication works out for you and you feel better! Constantly feeling like you are going to die is the worst feeling I've ever experienced and I wish nobody had to feel that way.
