So last Wednesday I sat up a&e for 7 hours as I wanted to finally put my heart worries to bed. Had ecg, blood pressure, oxygen reader, chest X-ray and bloods taken, all came back absolutely fine!!! I should be feeling great right? Wrong. Still feel like I’m dying everyday. My breathing is terrible and not sure if this is because I’m anxious or something more serious but I know bad breathing patterns can cause more symptoms like chest pain. If I’m lying in bed I can feel blood pumping through my left hand side of body and then my hand pulsates too. Is this because I’m fixated on it I don’t know. How many more tests will I need till they find the problem or until I believe there is no problem. I had some hypnotherapy on Wednesday and whilst I was relaxed and my muscles were finally being relaxed. The feeling of them all popping made me worrried too! It’s never ending. I just don’t know what to do. Too scared to exercise because even walking up a tiny hill for the bus to work makes me sweat and out of breathe. Must be something more to this surely? Advice please guys.
Hi Les,
Anxiety is a very vicious circle, the more we worry, the more symptoms the body exhibits , we worry even more, we get even worse symptoms etc etc.
I have suffered mild to chronic anxiety for 9 years, I have been prescribed most of the different meds available, I had the heart palpitation symptom, 24hr ecg, bloods, ultrasound heart scan, all were good.
The more you mentally focus on a bodily ache, pain or disfunction the worse it seems to get.
What worked for me was;
To still the mind…
Practice Mindfulness
Practice Meditation
To distract unhelpful thoughts…
Read
Do things you enjoy
Excercise
Walk in the country
Get work that keeps the mind busy.
Stay positive my friend, each day is a gift, live it to the full, tomorrow is guaranteed to no one…
Peace
