Hi everyone. I'm on my 2nd frozen shoulder in 3 years.
This time it's started to freeze really fast and the pain is like nothing else. I didn't take any time off work last time but this time, I can't even type without the shooting pains going down my arm. I have self referred for physio and Dr gave me 15mg codeine but it's not touching it. Am I being a wimp by asking to be signed off and do any of you lovely people have any suggestions what pain relief help so I can ask my Dr about it?
Many thanks in advance.
I use Norco when I am in deep pain of this kind. I am not an advocate of Opiods unless necessary though Only you know how bad it is and no you are not being a wimp!
Hello Lyn. I'm just finishing a course of steroids. Quite a high dose to relieve the inflammation around the shoulder. I have found that a TENS machine has given me GREAT relief from the awful pain. I would DEFINATELY advise you to try it. Take time off from work. We can be unkind to ourselves sometimes. Nows not the time. Keep strong.
Teresa, I too have had a course of steroids and am tapering off, now ....last week of one month. Did you have a surgery or are you suffering from FS ? I was on 10mg daily, now half of that. Do you mind sharing your experience? any side effects? I have found the later part of a month now difficult however post surgical I was willing to give it a try to keep my ROM after a capsular release and hopefully prevent inflammation. or scar tissue..this has been a tough month!
I
Get a cortisone shot Lyn x
Hi lovely people. So I went to see the Dr this morning and whilst I was there my hand changed colour. So Dr has sent me off for a chest xray referred me to vascular, ortho and neurology signed me off and upped the codeine as well as tramadol. At least I'm getting some help now. As she thinks it could be my neck causing the issues.
Cortisone shot didn't help the last frozen shoulder I had 3 the last time. X
Hello Travelight. I started on 40 mg and reduced every by 5 mg every second day. This is my second round of steroids and I finish tomorrow. I am suffering from FS and have found it very difficult. I'm 7 months or so in now. I have found relief from the pain with a TENS machine. It has really helped. I know from this forum that people do get better. I have had physio but am too frozen at the moment to continue for a while but I will hopefully get back to it. Keep your heart up.
Ah - wow sounds as if it is the neck, nerves etc. I had more Bowen therapy last night. I was a bit unsettled and found it hard to sleep albeit there are other family things going on but hey, I feel a bit more relaxed with the shoulder and neck today. My physio and GP both tell me that it is to do with the neck and impinged nerves.....slowly but surely it will right itself - I guess!! Good luck.
Teresa, I am with you in heart and spirit...Please let me know how you are coping since you are off steroids, hope it will go well, thanks for respnding....I have one more week on 5 mg....it has helped, but the big determining factor is how I will be afterwards.....thanks for the info on the Tens...
Hi Teresa thanks very much for the info and support. I posted below as I'm new to this and didn't realise I could reply separately. The doc has signed me off for two weeks and referred me. I think I will speak to her about steroids too and will definitely look into the tens machine. I hope you are in less pain now 😊
