I finally went to see my gp last week to discuss my mood swings...my change in personality....and have been referred to a psychiatric department to be assessed for bipolar....I'm scared and anxious...
There is no direct referal to be assessed for bipolar, it's not that simple. It's common for a gp to send patients to psychiatrists for further assessment, but it doesn't mean it's for bipolar assessment, it can be any number of things. It would be better to not go expecting bipolar as a diagnosis, psychiatrists and therapists do not appreciate being told which diagnosis they should be giving
Thank you for your reply. Are u bipolar?
Hi
May I ask what you described to your GP? How your mood swings are? I have a few ongoing things but this isn't been diagnosed but the more time goes on. I think I might be bipolar. My partner thinks I mate be but i obviously can't just assume things. I would appreciate any information to see whether I can relate to what you're going through too? As long as you're comfortable posting it publicly.
I hope you get your answers and try not to be anxious or scared, you'll be fine and you'll get the right medication and treatment you need. Good luck
Xx
Some of my therapists think so, some don't. That's what I'm trying to say, it's a very complicated diagnosis and can sometimes take a very long time
