Am I ready?

Hello ladies!

Today I am 4 weeks after rectocele and cystocele repair.

All good so far... I feel great and no paint at all... I saw dr on week 3 and he said I was healing great and he gives me the ok to pick up my 9 month old baby and to go back to work and drive 😳

But I see in this forum, most of you ladies talk about a "least 6 weeks " rest before going back to work ...

Questions to you ladies ;

Am I ready to walk more than 30 minutes a day?

I am back to work (I drive most Of the day, I go in and out of my car many times during a day of work)

I am ready to swing in the ocean or pool?

what do think?

Hugs

Hello. Miliva are you in the UK? I'm asking this because of the rules on driving here in the UK. A lot of insurance companies won't insure until 6 weeks after surgery. As for your other questions it's difficult to disagree with your surgeon, yes it all seems very early compared to the usual advice

Sounds way to early to me hun.however I'm not yuiur surgeon?whast type of surgery did you have?xx

I'm 10 days post anterior repair and won't drive till at least 6 weeks.. You must be lifting or bending too much hun.xx

Hi Matron,

No. I am in Miami Florida.

As you all here say, " follow your dr advise" however I am hesitant to do so, because is very early... But I feel good, but I am little confuse and really not sure what to do... I feel better when I read here others own experience...

You have been very lucky to recover so quickly Miliva but as you say your advice is different to the advice we are given post operatively. After 4 weeks the advice would be short walks increasing daily providing you aren't in pain but rest is still very important. Going back to work just wouldn't be considered at this early stage neither would lifting a 9 month old baby but as I said I personally wouldn't disagree with a consultant. I know in the USA urologists perform prolapse surgery whereas here in the UK it would usually be a Urogynaecologist.

Hi Miliva,

It sounds like you are a very fast healer. I am amazed, wish I could heal that fast.

Must tell us your secret? ( what kind of repair did you have was it keyhole or through vaginal opening? Hope you don't mind me asking? )

Very happy for you, and sincerely hope you continue to progress and keep well.

Take it easy and look after yourself,

Phyl xx💖

Hello Phyllis, I am 42 y with 3 beautiful daughters.

I will say my secret is on my genes. All my life I have been a very healthy and very active person. Almost never ever sick...

My surgery was done vaginal ( was a rectocele and cystocele repair)

I feel great ... I feel ready to go back to all my normal

Activities... ( but I will NOT)

Hugs

Matron, I agree with you. To me is to early to be lifting my 20 lbs 9 month old baby... or working ..

I am going to wait for another couples of weeks...

Btw matron ... Do you think everything is in good recovery condition inside ... I mean inside my vagina 😬?

Or it could be that the repairs are being damage by me going to work to soon?

Hi miliva,

I was like that too, was 5ft 4 inch and around 10 stone, regularly going to gym/swimming. Use to do a lot of hill walking and cycling, working 2/3long shifts a week. Family of 6 so always busy. Never I'll. But must admit not a particularly fast healer.

But unable to overcome the weak ligaments that are a result of change in hormones during menopause! Didn't seem to matter how fit I was, everything prolapsing, fighting gravity.

Please take your progress slow and easy. I rushed my progress last time and thought I'd be OK resulting in having to have my repair redone.

This may not happen to you and I sincerely hope all goes well, but please be careful.

Hi Miliva! Happy for you!!! Im in Spain, my dr allowed me to drive at week 4 but I began to work 1 month later. Hope it's useful! Hugsssss! Take care!!!!! 😘😘😘😘

It sounds as though your consultant has found everything is well healed and providing you have a job where you don't have to lift anything heavy or stand for long periods you should be ok.

Thank you Matron.
