Symptômes de sevrage de l'amitriptiline

Hi Jackie I'm sorry you are still suffering side effects. Amitriptyline is an awful drug and I wish I had never started taking it. I have started having reflexology and am taking gin seng. I'll let you know how I get on. Heather

Hi Jacqueline, do you have restless leg syndrome since coming off amitriptyline? It's driving me crazy!!

Heather

Jackie

Thanks Jacqueline, yes it's a horrendous drug. I wish someone had told me prior to my being prescribed it.

Heather

Maintenant, l'eau passe à nouveau naturellement.

JACKIE

Hi Jackie, it's shocking we put our lives in their hands. I don't think there are many who really care.

Update, so far.  Approximately 10 weeks off amitripiline, I still have this extremely irritating prickling all over my body.  Still waking very early in the morning.  I have been back to the docs, who has given me blood tests which came back negative.  The solution is to put me back on amitripiline as the doctor thinks I have developed this abnormal sensation in my body (Prickling of the skin) while I was taking the amitripiline & the amitripiline has been flattening it.

Hi Rich, did you go back on a lower dose.

Hi Patrick, yes.  I had my doc start me up again.  one week at 10mg then the next two weeks at 20mg.  I have an appt on tuesday to see if she is going to increase it again.  I still have some very uncomfortable symptoms.  mostly off balance issues and my face gets hot frequently. I also still get some jitters in my core. But I definitely went through hell in August.  fevers, no sleep, very fast heart beat, fast heavy breathing, and a pain inside my gut....like someone was squeezing my pancreas.  not to mention i had diarhea for 2 weeks straight.  it's very weird now because all of my off balance/dizziness issues dont appear at all if im driving.  The smaller the room im in, the worse it gets.  At least I'm back at work.  My withdrawal was mostly delayed as well......nothing nasty started until about 7 weeks after stopping the meds.  Thats probably why the ER could never figure it out, and I didnt even think of it being this at the beginning either.

I think it starts when the meds are completely out of your system. My doc said that I am not suffering from withdrawal as the meds has been out of my system so long. My body has been relying on the meds for sleep, so my body now has to get use to going to sleep on its own. The prickling skin sensation, he hasn't got a clue what that is. One doctor did tell me, that sometimes when we introduce you to a medicine. Your body will rely on it & may have to stay on it for the rest of your life, which is quite scary.

Ptrick did u go back on amitryptiline

I'm back on amitriptyline. Withdrawal symptoms I could put up with but the restless leg terrible. I'm taking 25mg doctor thinks that once it builds up in my system the restless leg syndrome will go. I sincerely hope so because it's driving me mad during the day. The amitriptyline is knock on no me out at night thank goodness because I wasn't getting any sleep.

I stopped taking it last November but GP suggested I take the odd one when need to. I have awful altered sensation in my hands and around my chin. My hair seems to fall out mire easily too. Just wonder if you have heard of this. Funny sensations driving me nuts!

I took amitryptyline for six weeks for severe insomnia which worked great but then had to stop it as it was putting me in a coma. Despite discontinuation I still felt like this for three months. I have chronic fatigue and I'm sensitive to meds and have a sluggish detox system. Now three months on I think I have finally got it out my system as I'm sleeping less but I've been all of a sudden hit with morbid depression and a sense of complete doom. I never felt anything like it in my life and I know it's down to this drug. I don't know how to get over this. I wasn't even depressed when I started taking it. I can't go back on the drug as it was killing me. I was taking 12.5mg and probably was in my system for four months. Any advice would be much appreciated. If the feeling doesn't lift I'm scared I'm going to do something stupid

Hi, I took amitriptyline at a high dose for years for chronic fatigue syndrome and insomnia. I stopped last March and also began suffering severe depression. Amitriptyline is an antidepressant and alters the way your brain uses serotonin, without it it takes awhile for your brain to return to normal. I used 5htp supplements and magnesium and they seemed to help. It does ease off but I know that terrible sense of doom and utter misery. Please don't do anything to harm yourself, do see your doc if things are getting really bad but have a look at some supplements and herbal remedies too.

Kind wishes

Diane

Thanks for your reply Diane, I've only just seen your message. I've ordered some 5htp and will be here tomorrow and praying it will give some relief. It seems to have good reviews. I'm staying away from the doctors, all the medications are evil. Did you have physical deterioration in your condition too due to the amitryptyline? I'm getting weaker by the day and completely bedridden and getting to the point I need help to get things and also how long did it take for the utter doom to lift? I know it's different for everyone but just wondered. Kind regards.

Hi, it can take a couple of weeks for 5htp to fully work but I felt better after a few days. I did feel really weak for a couple of months, like recovering from a bad illness but I had been taking amitriptyline for 18 years. Hope the 5htp works for you.

Best wishes

Diane

Just took first 100mg of 5htp and got some Rhodiola Rosea. Thanks for your kindness and taking time to respond Diane. Kind regards.
