Ive been on amytriptalline for years. Originally given to me for post natal depression, but ironically they were also used in the treatment of neuropathy, which I have, so as I say Ive been on them for ages.
They are, as my doctor told me the other day, an 'old' type of antidepressant, so have got to stay on them basically for the rest of my life, unless there is some medical cure for my neuropathy,
One thing I would say is, dont just stop taking them. I tried to wean myself off (Im a registered nurse) but it made me feel absolutely awful. I do think when they were being used for post natal depression, they did work for me. But I doubt they will for everyone.

i had it for anxiety and it was ace, was on it for 8 years and now I am coming off, it took the edge off and just made me feel normal again .

Did u have any heart palpertations with it
Once my system was used to taking the tablets, I had no side effects, but it does take a while for them to settle in
I havent had any palpitations since taking this. As I mentioned above, if I have missed a dose (and I would only have done that if I had D&V) you feel awful. Something you might want to think of if you are going to wean yourself off.
