Hey guys.
So, after a stint on propanalol, the doctor decided to give me 10mg of amitriptyline before bed to reduce the headaches I was getting that my anxiety is causing. I've been on it for almost 2 weeks and the headaches have subsided. However it seems to be making me worse. I feel dreadful all the of the time. I now cry for no reason, other than feeling so s****y. It also makes my chest feel very tight.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do I keep taking the tablets and wait it out?
Any help is appreciated.

The medication you mention is an AD medication that has further uses such as a sleeping tablet and nuro pain. You may suffer headaches when you get up in the morning. The best time to take this medication is in the evening about one hour before .
10mg is also a very small dose and I cannot see the problems you descibe on this dose. I used to take 75mg of the drug before bed. It as given to supress nerve damage pain in various parts of my body. I reduced the dose to 50mg when I reassested my medication requirements about six months ago. I have very few problems with this revised dose and I was on the higher dose for upwards over over ten years.
This medication is classified as a medication that is dirtier than some more modern medications, this is a loose explanation it still has a valuable contribution to make when used for various other conditions.
If you are unhappy, see your GP, personally I feel it is your Anxiety that is causing you problems.
BOB
Hi Bob, Thank you for getting back to me and sorry it took so long for me to repsond.
I thought 10mg was quite low too, and now my headaches seem to be returning. Think I'll take another trip to the doctors to see if there's anything else they can do. I also feel very tired all the time, but this could jsut because I'm not taking the tablet at the right time (I usually take it an hour or two before bed.
Thanks again
