So I went to the doctor today for this chronic bad headache I’ve been having for a while along with my anxiety and she prescribed me Amitriptyline for both. I believe 10mg I haven’t picked it up from the pharmacy yet. Has anyone taken this before and your opinion/experience.
My doctor prescribed me amitriptyline for insomnia and anxiety, it relaxes me. Makes me tired. But I realized that throughout the day my nerves are feeling a little weird and messed up and I feel as if I'm going to seize. I haven't stopped taking it, for that reason. But if this happens to you I would suggest talking with your doctor because it can cause seizures if you stop too quickly or take too much. It helps me but there's always side effects and some can be dangerous. I hope this helps . I'm on 10 mg as well. Hope everything goes well and I've heard good things about it helping with headaches!
I took it for about two years, prescribed for anxiety and to reduce sensitivity in nerve endings. At my highest was on 75mg but I never felt like it helped me personally. I felt no difference with the latter and anxiety wise I had more physical symptoms whilst on it then I have had now with Citalopram. I don't know if that's specifically down to the medication or just that I'm managing my anxiety better to be fair but I prefer Citalopram.
Saying that, I have a colleague who took it for issues with her back and she swears by it so everyone is different.
I been on them since February and on 75mg and still have chronic headaches
Yes and loved it!!! I was on Amitriptyline and did not experience any issues with it other than it made me sleepy, which was one of the reasons my doctor gave it to me in the first place. I was taking it at bedtime and noticed I would wake up still groggy the next day so I talked to my doctor and started taking it around dinner time, worked great for me. It was prescribed for insomnia and wide spread pain as well as my anxiety. My doctor said it was one of those medications they were using for a variety of things, like fibro and nerve pain as well as sleep issues so we gave it a try along with some other anxiety meds. Of course as with everything, everyone is different and tolerates medications differently. Just make sure you are talking to your doctor about any questions or concerns you have. Best of luck!!!
