Does anyone know whether there is anything in the literature that definitely shows amlodipine to be a definite cause of atrial fibrillation in some people? The list of side effects mentions heart arrythmias/palpitations but I am looking for some evidence of a definite link with atrial fibrillation.
Hi tcp. I think you will find that the two conditions are the same thing, Google them. My wife was becoming very ill after taking amlodipine for around two years. Every side effect you read on this site, she had experienced. She gave up amlodipine five weeks ago and within just a few days she was so much better. Her BP was 138 over 91 this morning and it has fallen over the period she has been without the drug. Please let your doctor know what you are doing but be firm that you want do stop this medication or any other for that matter. My wife is intent on getting her `BP back to normal by natural means and has lost almost a stone over the five weeks. Best wishes
In my case the amlod has certainly put an end to the previous trouble I had with arrythmias and palpitations.
Hi,
I had been on Amlodipine for several months (for high blood pressure) when I developed A.F. after reading about the connections of AF with this drug I stopped taking it. but it was too late for me I am now on other drugs to control the AF.
Curiously my blood pressure stayed witin normal range after stopping the Amlodipine- I am still taking Losartan and this alone seems to control my blood pressure.
