Hey everyone, I was hoping someone might be able to help. I've just had to have a tooth out :-( and the dentist has prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg to take for a week. I'm sure in my weeks of researching acid reflux I read something about antibiotics being bad. I've just started to feel a bit better from an awful bout of reflux and I'm worried I'll set it off again. Should I take an omeprazole each day for the week while I'm taking the antibiotics? I'm not currently taking any reflux medication. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks very much,
Gemma
I was taking omepraole for gastritis (not quite the same as reflux, I know) and was prescribed Amoxicillin by the hospital (they were aware of all other meds I take) and it did not cause me any problems.
I would take something from my own experience antibiotics triggger my reflux off really bad
Thanks for the info, I think I will take them together. Would rather risk that than another 7 months of reflux hell! Hope you are feeling better from the gastritis.
Thanks Gillian, yeah I think I will take omeprazole. I'm pretty sure that two courses of antibiotitcs may have caused the reflux in the first place so I don't want to risk it.
Hi.
Do you test probiotic foods and supplements ?
Antibiotic kill good digestive batcria .
Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system.
I would call n ask your Dr or Pharmacy. Good luck though.
