Anaemia

Can I just ask do people on this site with RA generally suffer with Anaemia?, mine is persistently low and has been for years, and salt levels always low.

Ignore the side argument but check the information on anemia in this thread https://patient.info/forums/discuss/worried-about-my-mom-521986

Hi there, I know this is common if you have bad RA or if you have had it do e time, I know at diagnosis they check iron as it is a symptom of RA too.

I suffer from pernicious anemia, which means I must inject B12 every two months.

Many people with RA do suffer from anemia, but it is easily resolved with supplements of iron.

Dr tried Iron tablets no affect, say Iron store is good but it's what's circulating is the problem, seems nothing to be done.

Suppose that's life with RA, thanks.

Thanks.

In that case, get them to test for pernicious anemia, which is more serious.

Some people have a genetic predisposition and it means the stomach cannot absorb B12.

Once the liver loses its supply the results on the nervos system can be quite serious, but that doesn't usually happen till later in life.

You don't say how old you are, but until the bad symptoms show up there usually aren't any obvious ones as far as I know except fatigue. I was being examined for chronic diarrhoea when they discovered mine.
