Hi Gloria good luck with op. Am afraid the only questions I asked were:
What kind of hip will I be having?
By the way I don't want to know what's going off during the operation so asleep please. I had an epidural and something wonderful in the arm can't remember a thing !!!
At my pre-op they went through most things and gave a good booklet. Buy the grabber you will use that for the first few weeks.
Don't worry. You wake up. No more hip pain. I didn't feel any discomfort at all. You just need help getting up and about. I would've had it done sooner had I known Doc said I will need other hip done eventually and I'm not going to hesitate
Well ... I think the two options are general anaethetic or spinal (with which you can also get sedation). I think spinal is the preference of surgeons and it is easiest on patients though recovery. I am a wuss and asked or and got some Ativan and sedation with the sipnal.
Get info on the surgical aproach your surgeon will use (anterior, posterior, lateral, etc) and re the implants (femoral implant, liner, etc). Reminders about recovery trajectory and meds to be prescribed also.

PS I am going for my 2nd thr on the 20th. It was a good decision for me with both. I could not imagine continuing with the pain and eventually 100% wheelchair with damage continuing with other joints. Just embrace this and give it your all.
I had a bilateral THR on 11th August by spinal injection plus a sedative... I knew nothing about it until I was in recovery. SO nice to wake up without feeling sick and able to eat and drink normally.
Good luck I would opt for spinal again when I have my knees done
I has spinal and was offered it with or without sedation. I asked if I could watch it if I did not had sedation, they said no (spoil sports), so I had sedation and woke up just as they had finished. Would have that method again without question everytime.
I had to have a spinal and general purely because my surgery was 7 and a bit hours and spinals only last about 3 or 4 so it just wasnt going to last the full sirgery. If i could have had just the spinal and sedatives i would have been much happier. The general was horrific. Took me over 45 minutes to wake up which apparently isnt normal and my heart rate was a mess. Id deffinetly stick to spinal, general is an awful thing to wake up out off. Dont worry hun. All will be fine. The surgery ia the easy bit
Hi my op for THR is next Tuesday , I am terrified so much so I've cancelled several dates , this is my last chance according to my surgeon and so I'm gona bite the bullet!

Take care and use all the assistance that is available!!
Airports are normally really good, but carrying a stick or crutch can alert other people to show consideration. So let folk be helpful and come home fitter & and stronger , and renewed.
Enjoy It!!
Struggling with new tablet, but wishing you the best holiday.
