i have been dealing with this since June, after just a week of trying the keto diet. However, no doctor has seen a fissure during an exam. I have a colonoscopy scheduled but I dont have any other symptoms except pain after bm's and infrequent light bleeding (usually just on first wipe). Pain at this point is very bad....will last 6-8 hours after every bm. I've been using .2% nitro for 5 weeks but proving to be getting more ineffective. Right now doc has me taking 2 fibercon 2x a day, 1 colace, and calmol at night...with tona of water. BUT, even with soft bm I am agony all day. I refuse any painkillers other than advil. Did anyone else have an internal fissure? Is it harder to heal? One doctor suggested it was just a tight sphincter and spasms-but nonstop?! Help!!
I have had severe pain for 3 months as you describe upto getting a botox last week. I have had on off issues for 2.5 years. The gp could not see anything externally and it took the investigation under general to confirm it as a fissure.
Hello,
I may have one internally as well. I am having surgery next week to confirm and treat if seen. I have had pain (burning and aching) for 9 months. I had one doctor tell me he seen one and i have been using Nifedipine for weeks with no benefit. I am seeing a surgeon now. Do you have pain in the genetial area too? My pain travels it seems. I hope you feel better soon.
the fissure may be further up which is why the doctor can’t see it.
since your fissure is only months old, then botox would be a good option.
if botox fails, get the LIS, it has a 95% success rate.
