Had an anal fissure now for it seems a lifetime. Nothing seems to help. Been on diltiziem cream, tried siltz baths, lidocaine cream, laxatives, high fibre diet. You name it but nothing works. My life at present seems a constant nightmare. For something i once took for granted. I mean going to the toilet now seems like a recurring nightmare. Feel like other people think im faking the pain im in at times. Wouldnt mind but i went through child birth without pain killers and have had renal stones. This is worse as there seems to be no end. Know that there are surgical options and even botox but just frightened that this wont work. Used to be an outgoing person but this has taken over my life.
I totallyu empathise with your plight, i too have developed an anal fissure over the past 3 years and the pain at times is excrutiating! the spasms make my legs ache dreadfully and sometimes it feels like its healed, only to come back with a vengeance! I'm 40 and not sure quite wot to do next, went to the doctor 6months ago who gave me fybogel but dont think has helped..ive had 2 kids and i tore then and still suffer the effects from then..
Totally understand.
I've been off work through my chronic anal fissure for almost a year. I've used 'the cream' and had two operations when l had anal botox.
If anything its worse now.
I'm incontinent and the pain is unreal, currently using tramadol and pethidine to get through the day.
The pain has even started to wake me through the night.
I had a second consultation when l was told to do more exercise...amazing when l can't walk 100 yards without pain coming on.
High fibre diet actually makes the pain worse and having to take 8 movicol sachets a day to make me go to the loo.
I've even been admitted into hospital twice for iv morphine for the pain, but consultant has said hes going to keep me in next time,so I won't be doing that again.
Consultant has said that i've 'stumped' him and hes going to speak to another colorectol surgeon for direction.
So diltizam didn't work or botox and now they can't do an LIS 'coz of loss of muscle pressure....brill eh? :?
i would like to mention about experience with anal fissures. i have just been diagnosed with this horrible feeling in the \" back passage\" and it seems there is no cure for it, so rather than go to the doctors i am trying to help myself with the natural healing process i have been reading about how some people are trying magnesium + one of the vitamin B's ( I AM TRYING THE B6) i have only just started this treatment so dont know how long i will feel the benifit, so i'm going to try for at least 6months before i can give up on it,.if anyone does get good results i would be interested to know!!! \"living in hope\"
