I got hsv1 genitally back in january 2017.. since then i have had 1 outbreak but a couple times have gotten a couple anal fissures. i'm wondering if fissures are the same as herpes I take valtrex for any open sore outbreaks but should I take valtrex for fissures also?
Fissures can be due to herpes, but they can also be due to other things. Hard to say if yours are of aren't herpes-related unless you have it swabbed the next time.
Alternatively, take the meds as if it were an outbreak, and if it helps significantly compared to normal, then I guess you can assume it's possibly herpes-related. If the meds have a negligible impact, then probably not.
How effecive are the meds really with HSV1 genital? Like if he/she feels some tingling or fissure coming, will a few pills of Valtrez stop the potentiel outbreak?
The same oral meds are used to treat bad cases of cold sores, so it should work down below as well if taken at first sign of an outbreak.
