My son jumped of a wall which had a 10ft drop on the other side!! This was two years ago this November. See his injuries below. 1st picture was first x ray and again after surgery. 2nd picture was his 6 week check to see Sugeon. He is in constant pain and only has around 1 hour sleep each night. He had tried everthing but the pain is serioursly bad. Can he expect this for the rest of his life. His Dr/surgeon say as op was success there is nothing more they can do for him. I worry for his mental health, he is a 38 years old with two young children. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
You havent given any injuries Caroline. Are you in UK?
There are no X-rays attached but this song NSA remarkably like it could be CRPS. You must get your don to question this and ask to be referred to a pain clinic if the surgeon has now discharged him as he says his work is anatomically correct. He should also if he hasn't had one a CT scan or MRI to detect any soft tissue damage. You must insist if This is impeding on his mental health. It's been too long for him to be in this pain
Sorry. Didn't spell check. Should say *this sounds remarkably like CRPS *
strange about pics Vicky, will try again but thanks I will pass this onto him and hope that he can get this sorted out once and for all, Cheers.
hi Marina, yes in uk. Sons workig in Kuwait just now and cannot get any more painkillers. £50 to send out some and cant ensure he will get them! He injuries were a tibular and fibula fracture. Guy who x-rayed him said his ankle was like "a bag of broken crisps"
A pain specialist sounds like a good idea to me. He may have been on pain meds too long and they are no longer affective. He should also check out the alternatives, meditation, acupuncture, hypnosis, and probably his best bet is physical therapy. The PT will hurt at first...........but it dones work!!
Between them Vicky and Devs Mom are absolutely right, but 2 years is not a long time after an injury like this. He needs to have the whole situation reviewed, best with different consultants. What is your sons's job? Is he on his feet all the time? When is he back from Kuwait? Was the original injury treated in UK or did it happen in Kuwait?
