Well done Mic and if you are going to walk a mile, back from the pub sounds the best way to exercise. Wouldn't worry too much about your ankles being a bit swollen that can happen especially when you've done quite a bit of walking. Trying lying on the bed for a while with your feet raised on pillows (they should be a little higher than your  head) this should help the swelling.

Keep up the good work!

You will find that your ankle will swell up during the day and will go down during the night for a while yet.  It can go on for up to 3 months in some cases so the Physio told me.  However 6 weeks seems to be the magic date for everything, so you have a bit to go yet and don't worry about it.  The time to worry is if it doesn't go down at all.

Congratulations on your walking distance accomplishment! As others have pointed out, generally there is little concern about swelling. You are right to call your GP if it begins to hurt and the swelling will not go down. Remember to ice it also.

I am 18 days post op, a revision, and have not accomplished much yet because of a 6 week no weight bearing restriction, but I will walk as you are when it the restriction lifts.

Prop up your feet and legs as often as possible as someone else has advised.

My whole surgery leg swelled up about 9 or 10 days after surgery, and it was huge, hurt and had all the earmarks of a blood clot, so my doc ordered an ultrasound. Fortunately there was no clot which relieved me greatly. After two days of swelling it went down and is barely swollen to no swelling now.

I have never experienced swelling like that before and was caught by surprise at how often I needed to empty my bladder as my body worked to remove all that extra fluid. A nuisance!

Keep on keeping on as you are and I wish you the best! And in the near future, I hope to post an accomplishment as you have!
