Hi everyone! I broke my right ankle talus 6 weeks ago. Firstly xray did not showed fracture. But my first doctor said me be in a cast about one month. I was in a cast 4 weeks then I remove my cast. Doctor said me everything is okay and try to mobilize my ankle and bear weight. But there was a pain when I bear weight after one week I went to another doctor (famous). It was in another city (capital). He ordered me to do Multispiral CT and I did it and it showed non-displaced talus fracture. He said me to be in a cast 8 weeks and not bear weight and take Osteogenon drug for a month. I am in a cast now. I am in a depression. I read about avacular nectosis, arthritis and another problems with talus. My doctor did not say about them. Does non-displaced talus bone heal itself? Can I walk and run again. plz help
I wound up having surgery on a talar dome fracture after an MRI revealed a lesion.
A non displaced fracture should heal provided you follow directions. Mine was different, it was classified as an unstable fracture, but never treated as such.
3 years after my fracture, because of the lack of care I received, I've had my 3rd surgery due to weak ligaments and torn tendons because the 1st surgeon waited 16 months for surgery.
I'm sure you'll be fine.
Thank you Kristina. I am only 24 and have not matried yet. We don't what will happen in the future. I think it was a simple fall and I will be okay but it is making me long time off from my healthy daily activities. I like football but I am afraid of can't play football again. I hope I will heal and be energetic like before. Be healthy!
