Another box ticked

Well am now back from Gran Canaria after a week in the sun

After battling with the wretched socks and squeezing in to the seat on the plane (& I am only 5'2) coped easily with the flight apart from the take off turbulence and landing.

A few hiccups along the way with covering knee with sun block walking too far in too hot sun without my bottle of water and a mahousive hangover (only once).

Feel better for the warmth on my knee as well. Although week 17ish after TKR still exercising all day long, icing as and when, pain relief minimal apart from first thing in the morning. Still waiting for my foot to feel normal and the pressure sore on my heel to heal but now feeling the love again for the surgeon!

Just over the water from me in Tenerife!

Good for you, it cheers us mere mortals who are a few weeks behind you. I am 4 weeks post op on my second tkr in 3 months.  This seems to be the hardest time, everything coming back to life and hurting.  Looking forward to being able to actually 'go for a walk'.   Cheers

You have inspired me to get back to exercising I have hardly done any the last few weeks since going back to work. Glad you had a good holiday.

And what lovely weather to come back to ...... !!!

We had to miss our son's wedding this afternoon in California. No way I could shove my 6'1" long legged frame in a crammed up seat for 4 long hours. Along with that, I would have had to deal with my wife's Parkinson's situation and the Dr's. advice it just wasn't in the cards. Glad you were able to enjoy your vacation. Getting away can really be a boost for the mental health

I remember you saying that was the case. It must have been tough. Hope the day went well for them and you can have a belated celebration at some point. Our health has to come first though. Maybe you could have a local break somewhere nice sounds like you both deserve it

Thanks. Next surgery 12 days away....then another rehab period and by fall, maybe a little get away. We were lucky today. My brother in law has a go pro camera and was able to live stream the wedding and we were able to watch it in HD. They are setting up Skype tonite at the reception so we can talk to a few people

At 20 weeks I went on a cruise in the Carribean. We used Thomson who have a welfare team and sorted out seats and suitable cabins, but it wasnt necessary as we went on he Dreamliner planes and the legroom was great The ships had plenty of lifts. I found using the stairs good exercise and there was a gym. The excursions involved walking but they were fine.

This was my first cruise & I enjoyed it so much we are having another soon

Costwise it was as cheap as a Eupoean holiday

You are a treasure, always caring about someone else's troubles.  I hope you get some wonderful photos

Hope somebody videoed the wedding for you both. Very sad to miss such an important event.

Hope you enjoyed watching the wedding. I know it's not the same as being there but you'll be able to catch up with everyone once you've recovered from the next and hopefully last operation xx

There ought to be a 'like' or 'agree' button on here - same message from me to OFG x

Thank you. Turned out great. Streaming video was very good. We were able to record it as well and the Skype interactive turned out better than expected. The Parkinson's has weakened my wife's vocal cords and has affected her already soft speech (except when she's giving me a going over) but we were able to talk to all the relatives. Really made us feel like we were part of the whole thing.

Glad you were able to do that. Not quite as good as being there, but so much better than in the past where you could just have sent a telegram.  How did we live before all this incredible technology!

I was trying to explain to one of my youngest grandkids how telegrams worked and why they were used. Finally had to go to Google for help so he could grasp the full meaning. My wife generally hates technology but admitted last night that it really is wonderful. I assumed she meant when it was to get advantage and all she had to do was sit back and enjoy. That was her big reason to retire. They were going to redo the IT program and she would have had to take more classes. She decided she had enough to get her by the rest of her life. Since then we've done 3 upgrades at home

Yes, I was lecturing at Bristol University when information technology began to be important in education . . and they wanted me to give lectures on the introduction of information technology in Spain . . no help or time to research, no online libraries at that time . . .It was around then I decided it was time to retire! I love teaching when I know what I am talkiing about, but  being in front of a group of twenty or see young adults and unsure of your subject is too darned stressful!   I'd already had to learn a new shorthand system to teach that in the Diploma for Bilingual secretaries  . . .  We did survive with phones and telegrams didn't we!

So glad you had a great time and are feeling positive and happy, best wishes

So very happy for you.
