will be 8 weeks op second knee on Thursday just managed a full revolution on exercise bike now just need to get the straightening sorted
Wow i only wish i could do a revolution on bike...
Congrats to you Shar...
This whole thing is bringing me down fast!
Are you still on painkillers?
Me too so excited about the exercise bike, post op 3 weeks, but damaged my knee 5 months ago, so two ops later, I can do several full revolution on the exercise bike and am determined to get my leg straightend and walk with out a limp. Absolutely over the moon.
Couldn't do it on Friday at physio so thought I would give it a try today just sat pushing pedals back and forward and it just happened yes I am taking gabapentin and extra strength ibuprofen. When did you have your op
Wow!!! Sharon, that's brilliant It's amazing how much of a boost these things give us, isn't it? I have a static bike in the spare bedroom, waiting for me to use it, but at 4 weeks post op, I think it will be some time yet...!!
all the best to you x
7 weeks post op and the bend is getting better. The straight is just not happening. I am doing exercises and therapy. Still not wanting to give.
That is how mine started to get better. 7 weeks post op and can do the bike. Started slow with back and forth. Now for the frustrating part. Knee straightening.
I am so glad I found this forum. Mentally is has given me a better outlook.
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In all sincerity I hope you patted yourself on the back. If you didn’t do so. There will be no stopping you now
Thank you for the encouragement. This forum has helped so very much. I was very happy with the bend yesterday and the fact that sleeping is getting better. Just was a little down with the straight part. Not giving up though.
David55379,
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TAKING PAIN MEDS IF NEEDED!
I had a nurse one week after my TKR tell me I should be off narcotics by that time. I was going mad with the pain and felt terrible that I was so weak.
At 2 weeks post op I had my staples removed and asked my doctor about the medication. He was FURIOUS that the nurse had told me that. He has patients 3 months post op still taking narcotics and said if I am feeling pain, take the medications. You can not exercise when in pain so you stall your recovery. Pain is your bodies way of saying it needs help to heal. Keep up the good work.
I know my straight is just not quite there yet with first knee had no problem it was totally straight after the op but with this one where I have been limping for so long physio said my hamstring has shortened
Thanks just need to get it properly straight now
4/15
Way to go Sharon. Congrats.

My physio put me on static bike at 3 weeks post op...I thought she was having a laugh!! I started going forward slowly and back not doing a full turn, it took a few mins but I did do a full turn and went for 5 mins. I now use it 20 mins a day, I feel it really helped x
sharon congrats on the bike ,, great news but your right straightening needs sorting ,i know because mine is not straight and because of that its not easy the leg tires alot moreplus it will always be painfull .so my advise is work really hard and get it straight and you wont be sorry x
David, you will be able to...it is still early for you. I was 6 weeks po before PT put me on bike.
come on....you will be OK.
