I had an anterior repair 5 weeks ago, just this week I have a heavy, aching feeling & worry that something is wrong. This is my 3rd repair, both previous ones have resulted in another prolapse after 5 weeks. Has anyone had an anterior repair & could possibly share how they felt at this stage. I have previously had a tvh due to uterine prolapse, then a posterior repair for a rectocele, 6 weeks later I had a cystocele. Grateful for any info
hi christine,
it sounds as though you are doing too much too soon. I also got that achy/dragging feeling when i did too much. once i slowed down a bit it settled back down. i had an anterior repair with TVT last February and my bladder prolapsed again last August, 6 months after the initial operation. i wouldnt have another repair as it is not worth the risk. i will just keep doing my pelvic floor excercises and hope for the best. good luck in your recovery.
Thankyou for your advice, will try to rest more, not always that easy
After this sort of procedure you need lots of rest and at 5 weeks you are nowhere near healed. Do you do pelvic floor exercises and do you watch your weight? Being overweight will not help with these repairs.
Hi. I'm 1 week post op - posterior repair- I felt fine.... Until today!!! Have been for a walk along beach, now I feel like I've been kicked between the legs!!!!!! How much is too soon? Had a colposuspension in 2002, was laid up for weeks with it......
I'm not surprised you feel like a horse has kicked you kezza. These procedures take much longer than a week to recover from. You have been pulled about and cut internally so there is probably internal bruising. You also have stitches which will be pulling tender tissue. If you are very lucky I would say 6 weeks recovery but to be totally healed you should allow 100 days with 1% improvement each day. No lifting, and loads of rest with feet up. Were you not given advice about this?
Hi Marina, thanks for your advice, my weight is fine, taking it easy more now
