Anti depressants and osteoporosis

I am only in my mid 50s but I’ve had a lot of health problems recently related to my MS. I have broken my hip because of osteoporosis. Not surprisingly I have been very depressed recently but antidepressants are bad for my bones! Does anyone know of a mood boosting drug that isn't harmful. Tried St. John's Wart. Waste of money.

Hi carol - Chamomile tea, lavender, meditation. There are bound to be others if you google. Best of luck with it.

Depending on how much physical ability you presently have, some form of exercise can get the endorphins going - swimming or hydrotherapy is very good both for keeping muscles active and for lifting the mood. If you have a good health food store, they’ll be happy to give you advice on which essential oils can help - lavender is calming and sedating but rosemary is uplifting and has great effects on concentration which can help mood. Apparently peppermint is also good for lifting mood. I also agree that meditation is very helpful, particularly any type of mindfulness. So sorry you are going through all this and it’s understandable it will be difficult for you to feel positive. Lastly, depending on where you live, medical marijuana may be an option if legal where you are. Apparently has some benefits for MS sufferers too.

Thank you. Yes, missing out on exercise is not good for anyone.
