I was one year on antidepressant Fluvoxamine and on medication called Sulpiride.
After some time i started losing my libido and my erections were getting weaker and weaker
so i checked levels of my sex hormones in my blood and my Prolactine was high as Fu*k.
Then i decided to stop taking any medications for a year but my prolactine is still high… I even developed a little bit of gynecomastia.
Anyone got these side effects from antidepressants and other anxiety related medicaments?
okay, so your Fluvoxamine is prozac under a different name, which is a serotonin inhibitor. Serotonin is produce in the intestines and brain stem, Too much can cause OCD and depression. And your Sulpiride is an ant-psychotic benzamine used to treat mild depression. one of the side effects of this drug is lowering of libido. Now when i had this problem with Seroquel, I called my doctor and he switch me to something else (Celexa) which had no affect on my libido. Now i take pride in my libido as most males do, so its especially hard when things dont work right or you are just not in the mood, and wasnt fair to my partner either, so i made a change ASAP as my ego just could not handle the disfunction. So i recommend you call your doctor and make a change, there are other drugs out there that will not interrupt your sex life. Hope this helps, and hope you feel better
Did you try Sertralin ( zoloft, luxeta) ?
No, but my wife had a bad reaction to Zoloft. It made her angry and aggressive. She got switch to Lexepro after she threw a chair at me. Everyones different, what works for me may not agree with you. Finding the right meds is a process, may take a couple tries to find the right ones.
