Antidepressants?

Has anyone ever tried anti depressants if so did they work any? I'm going to doc today and I'm pretty sure that's what they'll prescribe me. Thanks

Generally speaking Elise the medications can work quite well. Sometimes people do not allow long enough for the medication to work as it can take upwards of four to six weeks for them to settle your condition and help yo recover.

Depending on your condition and treatment plans your GP offers ca also help you as well.

Some side affects in the early stages of AD medications can be unsettling be patient, give the medications time to work

Look up MINDFULNESS and Breathing Techniques on the internet. The former, Mindfulness is a relaxation technique and that can be very helpful. If your Anxiety is bad BREATHING TECHNIQUES can also help calm you dowm

You should find sites on web or in book form on Amazon that may help

HI there Elise

I've just read your post

You must have been to Dr's by now..

Did they prescribe you anything?

I have been on many antidepressants the key is getting the right one for you.

It took me years to get the right ones for me everyone's different.

If you have been prescribed anything take it easy they may have a few side affects but they go in a couple of weeks.

Maybe let me know how you got on??

Take care

Just seen you're starting Meds.

Give them a chance to work!!

Take care

I got put on Paxil it seems to be working okay but I'm still pretty depressed it takes weeks to work apparently.

I hope they do!

OH yes loads for years, started with seroxat which made me gittery so I couldnt have it. Over the years I have trie dpretty much all the srri's except prozac and none have worked for me, but wellbutrin does to a large extent it isnt an srri cant remember what it is. I hope this wont be closed because of advertising etc cos I am not. YOu ahve to try a good lot probably before you find one that works.

I am currently taking Citalopram and yes it is working for me. It takes a while to seen any real difference but I can honestly say I am happy to finally be coming out of that dark place I was in.
