got massive anxiety about how we breathe as humans, i know its me thats breathing so how do i know i need to breathe? just taking over my life at the minute and trying to take my mind off it but i just cant stop thinking about it, feel like im losing my mind and not sure how to get over this
breathing is an automatic function of the body. it sends oxygen to every cell in your body. You don’t have to think about it because it automatically happens. Just like when you sleep. if you stop breathing on purpose, eventually carbon dioxide will build up in your lungs and you will be forced to take a breath.so try not to focus on this because you don’t have to.
get busy doing other things and you won’t even think about it. It’s better to keep busy when you have anxiety. I found that if I do something for somebody else or help others, the focus is off of myself and I feel a lot better. You’re going to be fine ![]()
thankyou so much nobody knows aboht this and i feel a little embarresed by it, my girlfreind hasint got a clue and just want to get my life back for her
believe me, so many people have to deal with this! DONT be embarrassed. Anxiety can cause all sorts of weird thinking. some get deja vu all the time, some feel like they arent real, its amazing how the brain works! just try to relax your mind as much as possible. and when these things happen take more of a “matter of fact“ attitude about it. Kind of like a casual response. That has helped me
really appreciate you commetung back you dont know how much this means at the moment, and a change of response to the anxiety? ive heard of that and been trying it out but i have a question and its a bit weird but anyway 'how do we reply to a anxious thought or feeling? what is the best response? is it to be happy about the thoughts? as in a false sense of security or answer back to the thought? like ‘nothing is going to happen to me’ or just let them roam with no response? i know im over thinking it but just dont know the best texhnique i see people talking about this and they all say different
so when we respond to anxiety or anxious thoughts or feelings with more anxiety, the brain senses that and it will send out more adrenaline which in turn makes you feel worse.
regarding how to react to anxious feelings and anxiety in general, different things work for different people. There’s no one right answer .
- some people Will stop the thought right away and say no! Then they get busy with something else. They do this each and every time a negative thought pops into their head. Eventually your brain does this automatically for you.
- others Let the thought float by with a relaxed attitude, and then they imagine it dissolving in the sky. this is also done every single time.
I tend to stop the thought right away and move on to something else. I stay busy.
remember that all the negative thoughts are not a part of you they are completely separate and that’s why you can get rid of them.
Some days will be better than others but I just take it one day at a time. Another thing I do is stay away from any kind of negativity which means horrible movies, negative news, world events that are awful.
we may not realize it but these things stick in the back of our mind and can create other types of negative thoughts. Try to do things that make you feel happy., joyful, grateful.
So basically try a couple ways that I mentioned above and see if either works for you. Or do whatever else you can think of. There’s a great book called mindfulness that discusses all of this and is really a great read! Another really good book is called finding quiet.
We May never get rid of anxiety 100% but we can certainly cut it way down and manage it way better. Take CARE

I may have mentioned this before but there’s some great meditations on YouTube for anxiety, depression, sleep, etc. I listen to these every night when going to bed and they really relaxed me.
