Anxiety about knowing how to speak

I am not sure exactly how to articulate this issue. I seem to have a lot of anxiety around how my brain knows how to have me speak and communicate my thoughts. It’s like, as soon as I speak, I wonder how my brain knew to have me say that. And I worry about future conversations, like how will my brain know to articulate my thoughts into words, and it is almost paralyzing. I am always comparing myself to others who seem to speak so freely and with such easy and poignancy. And, it turns out when I’m having conversations, I do just fine, but as soon as I’m done speaking the intrusive thoughts come in like “how did you even know how to do that?” I guess the anxiety is around, how do words come out of my mouth so freely without my actively thinking about what I’m going to say first. I have no idea if this makes any sense and I’m almost embarrassed to bring this to light, but it’s what my anxiety has latched on to most recently. I also have a tremendous fear of public speaking. I always do fine, but its one of my biggest fears in life.

If anyone else has ever experience this very niche area of anxiety, I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you!

David

i understand david. i too have anxiety, esp public speaking. its the number 1 fear of most people.
the brain is an amazing Organ! it is more sophisticated than the most modern computer.
heres a short explanation…
Speech relies on many areas of the brain that work together and are activated.
. neurons (brain cells) release chemicals which are neurotransmitters. then those make electrical signals in other neurons.
those electrical signals go out to thousands of other neurons like a wave flows out.
this leads to thought formation.
speech is a function of two specific areas of the brain that work together .
so basically when it all works together, your brain knows exactly what to do and when! We dont have to try and figure it all out.
even scientists still dont know everything about the brain!
I would suggest that you try not to over think this. just relax and just allow it to happen. your brain is made wonderfully by our Creator and He doesnt expect us to understand it all.
i was never a good speaker . we are all different. be yourself.
FOCUS on your positive qualities instead and when you apply those, the thoughts of your brain will fade off cuz you are using your strong attributes! THATS how we can turn obstacles into OPPORTUNITIES!
best thing to do is try to relax your mind as much as you can, stay busy, and enjoy your life. take care!

Jan, thank you so very much for your reply! i know what you are saying is true and i nee to let me my mind take a break from being so consumed with the “why” and just let my brain do its thing! i really appreciate the kind and positive words from you! have a wonderful day!

David you are welcome! You’re going to be just fine.
