Anxiety about my taste buds

It has been about two weeks and I seem like I’m recovering from the common cold as the sore throat, runny nose and sneezing went away for a good few days, but my only concern is for the past few days, I have been experiencing a strange taste to my taste buds, which I’m not sure if the cold can cause that. But I haven’t been getting any symptoms besides that. I’m worried if I should see my doctor about it and he might end up telling me some bad news. I can taste and drink things that has flavor to it, but then the food I eat ends up tasting funny or weird in the end. I had this experience before and it did resolve, but I barely get sick and that was years ago when I came down with a flu, not sure how long it will last, but I’m hoping soon I don’t taste anything weird anymore. Should I worry about this?

I think you should give it another few days to see if it goes away, then maybe call your doctor to give you some peace of mind. It’s very common to have changes in your taste and smell after having a cold or flu, so this seems perfectly normal to me. When I had mono it took me weeks to get my normal appetite back, nothing seemed to taste good. This is the type of symptom that only us anxiety sufferers would worry about - no indication of something bad happening here.
