Anxiety and chest pain

So last night I had like bad over the top chest pain that freaked me out. I got out of bed and sat in my living room waiting to die while everyone was asleep. I was panicking. It went away about 15 mins later. I went to sleep and woke up this morning. I have had bronchitis think I still do for two weeks. I am very worried about dying all the time I have health anxiety. Over the top health anxiety. I can't tell myself enough I'm ok or is it really a heart problem? I have had a lot of test to check my heart and they find nothing. I can not find a psychiatrist to see me they are either booked tell next year or can't take me because I have insurance. What can I do?! I'm stuck

Dear Christian,

Try proper breathing technique.  It is very simple and might help you. Try to find a comfortable space where you can sit.  Sit straight with your chest a bit expanded, next breathe in (inhale) with your mouth closed and breathe out (exhale) with your mouth open.  Try to do this without hyperventilating. Just easy breathing in and out.  If you don't feel you are doing it properly do this: when you breathe out, put the back of your hand in front of your mouth and blow into it as if it was burned and you are trying to cool it out when you breathe out.  The other thing that you could do not to fear death is pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus, his Son, to forgive you for all your sins, past and present.  Ask Jesus to come into your heart and save your soul.  God has given us his promise, John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son to die in the cross, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."  So Christian, if you truly do this with a sincere and repentant heart, you will be completely free from all anxiety and fear; and finally you will have that joy and peace which surpasses all understanding.  May God bless you and transform your life, that you may also be a light in the midst of darkness and be able to comfort and guide others to the only one who can make us truly free in our minds and our souls through his Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Hi Christain, I used to get ches pain a lot when I had severe anxiety and I thought I had a heart problem but I didn't. Chest pain when feeling very anxious or having a panic attack is a very common symptom of anxiety. What helped me the most was knowing that what I was feeling was a symptom of my anxiety, and although it's scary it couldn't hurt me. As the other person in the thread said, try breathing techniques, they should help you to switch from the sympathetic nervous system (which triggers all the fight or flight symptoms) to the parasympathetic nervous system which is calms the body down. There is a breathing GIF you can follow to help with the breathing technique but I'm not sure I can link to an external website on here.

Can relate on the health anxiety!

I too have been for test after test for fear of illness, rumour, infection, pendisitis.. and the list goes on.

I don't think mine is as server as yours though/: I literally tell myself I'm over reacting and destruct myself. And also in some cases tell myself not to worry too much because the hospital is only 5 minutes away.

But as you said you've tried telling yourself you're okay. I also tried to tell the people that love with me to also reassure me and tell me I'm fine and to just breathe and I'll be fine.

Mental Encouragement sort of thing. Maybe that might help abit? At the end of the day I know it's easier said then done but if you've had all the tests and nothing's wrong then keep telling yourself that! Remind yourself you've had tests and there's nothing wrong. (I know your mind will always find some kind of loop hole but just keep trying to over ride the thoughts) I wish you luck. Feel free to message me if you like I am always around x
