I get fearful and feel stupid when i forget what im saying,my brain seems to freeze.this makes me anxious and panicky
Hi Lesley,
you raise an interesting point regarding memory problems and anxiety. I sometimes feel like I am losing my mind because I forget things so easily especially when my anxiety is high. It will be interesting to see if this is common but I bet we are not alone. It is an awful feeling especially when you literally forget something seconds later. I look forward to reading others experiences and how they cope. For myself I guess I have accepted it and laugh it off, though the laughter is for others, inside I just feel like another part of me is broken.
With anxiety we have a over working brain anyways so when we think of something we are thinking to much its going to puzzle your mind I get this and it's frustrating and scares me so much sometimes into a panic attack because I think I have lost my mind even mid sentence with somebody I will be anxiouse because I just don't remember what I am saying at all .
anxiety has 3 main things fight flight and freeze like when your in a bad situation you can try your best to fight it, run from it or freeze I think this is part of the freeze although normally it means you can't move . it can also make you not be able to think because you are overwhelmed by all the thoughts of what if I do it again mid sentence ect so even though it does not seem normal to forget things it is when you're anxiouse
Steph,
thank you for that, a very informative and useful piece of information
