Anxiety and panic

I've been researching but haven't seen any current posts.  For about a year I've been suffer with anxiety and panic attacks.  The symptoms vary from weekly to monthly.  But usually always includes chest pains( currently shooting pains), left side pain, shortness of breath and I could go on and on.  Stress test a year ago when I woke with a severe panic attack.  Blood work all normal.  I do have a small hiatal hernia which causes gerd which gets worse with anxiety.  A daily struggle to survive.  I'm 47 so probably peri menopausal on top of that.  Just looking for confirmation as all of you who are googling anxiety as we do on s daily basis.  Refuse to take antidepressants as I've heard and seen bad outcomes.  Anyone?

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks as well. I'm only 17. Anti-depressants never did me any good, I steer away from medications in general so I'm currently not taking anything. I definitely get shortness of breath but never any shooting chest pains. I'm currently struggling as well. I'm basically glued to my bed, very difficult for me to get out. Hoping your situation improves soon. Just know you aren't alone. Take care. x

I hope you improve as well.

I get the left sided chest pain very often - it varys in intensity and how long it lasts. I also have gerd from anxiety, and I refuse all medication just like you. It is definitely a daily struggle. Some days are better than others. Some I can't even leave my home. You are not alone, I hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi. I'm nearly 44 and I'm sure being peri menopausal has affected my anxiety. I take anti depressants but I understand they are not for everyone for a variety of reasons. I would suggest you talk to your Dr to look at other ways of dealing with your anxiety. Although I take meds I know there is no cure for anxiety and we have to learn to cope with it and work out how to deal with it when the attacks come. I would suggest looking into deep breathing and relaxation techniques. Also the bus has a great self help.pafe that goes through anxiety stress and panic. I hope this helps and you feel better soon.
