Anxiety and period fears.

I have been so stressed and my anxiety has been really bad for about 6 weeks now. I convinced myself I was pregnant and became obsessed with checking symptoms online, which I have convinced myself I have. Between tingling/prickling mild breast pain, sore ear, heartburn I have connected it all to pregnancy. My period came a month ago and I thought I would calm down. It came this month just today but like last month I am freaked out it's implantation bleeding and not my normal period. Started off heavy this morning but lighter now and of course my anxiety started taking over then thinking all kinds of things. I don't normally get heavy periods but no matter how much I try to convince myself I'm fine my anxiety freaks me out and I my fears take over. I read anxiety can effect your period if highly stressed, I just feel the worries, fears are never-ending. My shoulders and arms are so tense and sore aswell, I just feel I need some peace from this all. Thank you in advice for kind replies.

All symptoms you've advised can be caused by anxiety. For your peace of mind, either speak to a doctor or take a pregnancy test but please don't self diagnose. Googling symptoms will only add to your stress.

Good news, a few hours after my period was flowing normally. I have the normal cramps and I apologise in advance normal colour but clotting is not normal of it was implantation bleeding right? I know in my heart of hearts it's my period because it's to heavy to be otherwise but my mind will not let me have peace. Can it be hard at times to tell what's real and what's not with pains caused by anxiety? Like the slight breasts pains? When I ignored them or wasn't freaking out about it...it wasn't as often and not as bad. Can anxiety last long-term?

Yes, self diagnose and googling for symptoms just adds more stress and stress affects your hormones system. I know how it feels because I had these ones too. Please talk to doctor and take a pregnancy test - it will make you feel better. by the way, don't stress. I've got my period two times in a month because of that and what's more, one time was when my period came two week later. so. stress affects your hormones so please, try to calm down.

Good stuff. Anxiety can be a long term persistent problem or it can be resolved relatively short term if you can identify a route cause to what triggers your anxiety. Myself i've had it for years at varying degrees.

And yes it can be hard to tell sometimes symptoms wise, it literally contributes to almost every sucky symptom you can think of. As a general rule if your anxiety starts to impact your daily activites or you've found your worrying about things consistently for a long period of time (say 6 months) then talk to a doctor. Or if you just want peace of mind from a symptom, see your doctor. They've honestly heard it all, so don't be afraid of telling them your concerns x
