Anxiety and thoughts HELP

Hi im new here and ive just recently started having anxiety attacks. Chest hurts. Heart races and beats hard. Focusing on my heart...which i cant stop.

The thing is ive gone to the dr twice in the last week and they have done ekg twice and nothing has come up...yet i cant relax still.

Ive had blood work done, stool sample, ekg and exam and everythibg has come back normal.

Its becoming difficult to relax and i feel like a burden to my fiance.

Somethings have happenend recently such as lower work hours and i have a baby due in a few weeks.

But thats not what stresses me out. The thoughts that there might be something medically wrong with me and dying is the problem. (Like thinking i have brain tumors because of constant head aches)

All i can think about is Not being able to see my kid grow up.

Any help is appreciated

The more you think about the worse the anxiety gets . just try to calm down and get a cardiologist to look at your heart. Anxiety causes symptoms that can mimic a heart attack. Sometimes it causes pain , panic attacks, palpitations etc

In the meantime ask your Doctor to Prescribe you Beta Blocker. It will calm you down and normalize your heart rhythm. Try meditation or relaxing techniques as well.. Hope you get better

Hey man, im sorry to hear what your going through, i myself am in the same situation. A year ago, i had my first anxiety attack, heart raced insanely fast, coukdnt breath ect. Then a week later had another one, two days after that another, then i started having chest pains every day. Went to the doc, had an ekg, chest xray and blood work, all fine. Then went back 3 weeks later and had another ekg, nothing. 2 months later, saw a new doc, new ekg, chest xray and blood work all was well. He refered me to a cardiologist who performed an echo cardiogram, guess what? Nothing wrong, and to add too it, from 17-22 i was in great shape, i was 6.0ft, 210lbs, 18% body fat, now im 24, weigh 280, vape, diet is garbage and they say im HEALTHY. But every day my chest pain is there, my heart rate is in the low 50's when resting which they say is normal, yet i go to bed each night hopping i wake up tomorrow. Every day my heart rate is doing something new an wacky yet im told its fine. Im always out of breath, have chest pain, always tired, cant concentrate, losing my memory, but appearently all is well. I cant tell you to relax and say its going to be ok because i was told by two doctors abd a very very respected cardiologist that im perfectly fine, but i dont believe them one bit, i all think they missed something.

Hi I totally understand where you are coming from, I have terrible trouble with anxiety and stress, a few years ago i had a problem that I thought was stomach cancer and even though people and docs said it's not I stressed so bad, my heart was racing and I had hot sweats and lost over two stone, it ended up a sternum problem and not my stomach, and now I've had prostatitis and terrible back ache and again my anxiety has started because of thinking the worst and have lost weight again, I hate it that I worry as much as I do so I totally sympathise with you

It's tough to do but you need to learn to accept your fears for what they are.  Anxiety breeds on uncertainty.  When it comes to health, even though theres a 99.999999% chance you don't have anything seriously wrong with you, your anxiety feeds on that 0.000001% uncertaintly.

Socratic questioning can help.  This is a technique I was given during my CBT sessions.   Basically the thought process is as follows

What is my thought/fear?

What is the evidence/odds that this is true?

What is the evidence/odds that this is false?

How long have I been thinking this?

Where does this thought come from?

Theres many Socratic Questions out there, it's basically an assisted form of rationalization.  It helps you look at a fear with more clarity.

There is nothing wrong withe you other than

anxiety that is in your lifte be sure to see a theripist. Good luck and god bless

Save yourself a heap of issues and go get an anxiety and phobia workbook. Dont not read it. Read everyword on every page and do the work. It will teach you whats haooening and how to handle it. This cant be ignored it gets worse. Very easy to learn about it and attain skills to work with it.

Its normal to feel it's ohyscial and maybe it is but with science is in its infancy they dont know, so you must learn to live with it and manage it as best you can, its about 25% percent of the global population. You are not alone at all. It sucks.it really sucks.

Thanks for all the replies. They have been a great help.

I do have one more question.

Ive had pressure/headache that make me feel dizzy sometimes for about 2 weeks is that normal with anxiety?

Hi yes I think it's normal, as anxiety and stress can cause so many problems and illness, when I get bad stress and anxiety I like weight and get headaches and they shakes, lately because of stress and anxiety I seem to be getting all sorts of pain in muscles and bones, can u let me know if that's normal

It's normal. I get them too when I start to have panic attacks and anxiety. I'm on beta blockers and buspar, they help but they also cause a lot of the anxiety. I want to tell my doctor that I don't want to take them anymore and that I want to try something more natural, but I'm in the military and I don't have a lot of say in what my treatment is at the moment. Anyway, anxiety and panic attacks really do cause a lot of symptoms that mimic physical problems, but there is usually nothing wrong with you. It's all in your head. If you can keep focusing on that, it helps make the anxiety go away.
