Anxiety attacks

I get anxiety attacks really badly, I'm 18 and I live with my parents. They don't really want to accept the fact I have anxiey. My question was, my anxiety level rise when I have not drank coffee the previous day. I wake up with anxiety. Are caffeine and anxiety related?

I would say that too much caffeine may be linked to anxi

Caffeine makes a person super alert and anxiety makes someone super sensitive. So maybe there is a link but I don't know for sure.

Hi Cilly, yes coffee does make you feel anxious it contains caffeine and if you suffer from anxiety it will make the symptoms worse.  I love coffee but have had to stop drinking it as it makes my heart beat fast and then leads to panic.  Tina

cilly, Yes anxiety and caffeine are related. I know it is hard, as a former smoker and heavy coffee drinker. I gave up smoking in June, but have had trouble cutting out coffee all together. I have reduced my intake of coffee though. My anxiety is a mental issue from health problems that I have had for the past 20 years.

As for your parents not accepting the fact that you have anxiety is a parental issue. Parents never want to see anything bad happen to their kids. If you are 18, made a octor appointment and talk with a professional and see what they have to say. You are an adult now and it is time to start looking at life in a different light.

I hope that all works out and once you have a doctor explain what is wrong then maybe your parents will accept that you have a disorder that you can't control.
