Anxiety causing chest pain? HELP!

Hi everyone,

For the past week/8 days, I have had a constant pain in the centre of my chest. It's a tight, unpleasant feeling which is sometimes a little better but never fully disappears. I have awful Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, low self esteem and overall quite a down mood because of the winter nights coming in. I wanted to know if anxiety can cause random bouts of random symptoms. In the past I know fine well that my body manifests anxiety in odd ways; I've had so many things: stomach aches for months, nausea, bowel problems, headaches, irregual cycles, pains, loss of appetite etc etc etc. It just seems strange to me that this has randomly appeared and my health anxiety is spiralling out of control, which is only making me worse. I had blood tests and my general health checked over in March and everything was excellent then.

The only reason I can think of that could be causing it which isn't anxiety is my bad posture (I ALWAYS slouch as I'm very tall) or my job as a dishwasher where I carry heavy trays of dishes and lift the machines over my head, but I only work twice a week.

Your help is really appreciated and reassuring.

Thank you.

I get that but it comes and goes. If I take deep breaths it seems to dispear for split second and then its back. Mine is also in the center of my chest and I notice when I'm stressed it happens more frequently. I also noticed that if I rub it that seems to help for the short term.

Do you get it as soon as you wake up? Mine is constant.

Hi Lauren, the short answer to your question is yes, anxiety can andmdoes manifest is many ways, chest pain is just one of them, its all to,do with muscle tension.

Your job doesnt help with you being tall,

Try to relax, have a massage, go to a spa, have a,long hot bath put some lavendar oil,in the water, anything that will de stress and relax the muscles.

That said if you are really worried then onviously pop, along to your gp,and get checked out.
