Hey all. I have withdrawl off klonopin im 25 days without it.. every morning im gagging like im gonna throw up.. I can barely eat ive løst 18lbs in this time.. it's not longer withdrawls at this point it's just anxiety.. how do i calm this down without taking a benzo.. I mean the physical symptoms happen before the anxiety starts i think.. I have been dealing with this for over a year now.. switching from med to med trying to figure this out.. I ended on lexapro 15mgs , remron 15 mg for sleep, zyprexa 5mgs morning , 5mgs in the evening.. not doing much i can say that.. I take zolfran for the nausea too.. please help how do i stop this.. im out of options..
You developed GERD. Can you get an appointment with a gastroenterologist and probably a nutritionist to help you. That hapoened to me. Ling time ago but after i went off klonopin. Your body doesn't miss benzos... i got gastro intentional reflux disease. Acid reflux reflux.. was so thin for a while from it. It is very manageabke so see your doctor. Just see a gastro if possible. They are better at diagnosing belly issues.
Medicatiins are not a cure at all. They are in some heloful to get a grip to learn the necessary self calming techniques and in some crisis states so you can function. They arent antibiotics they do not cure it. You can do it on your own i did. I used meds 22 years ago. I do an an emergency xanax im not perfect. But i can manage it a lot of the time. The tummy issues are not in your mind they are real. You sound like you developed GERD severe anxiety does effect the body. Reflux and tummy soasms are easily treatable. The vagus nerve from your brain to belly gets very irrated during anxiety google that. That play a big role. Many walk around with gerd and reflux not realizing thats from anxiety and diet but it is. And it really hurts and a endoscooy can "see" it so noone will dismiss it. But not with a gp. Some are smart and some profile which is cruel. You need a specialist a gastroenterologist. nicely demand a referral. All these meds mess with your gut as well and can cause this too. We are humans not car parts drs dont always care or recognize that,
Thank u.. im happy to hear i can get thru anxiety without medicine.. the klonopin was still letting the anxiety in anyway so I wasn't perfect on it anyway.. but it was much better than what im dealing with.. I spoke to my doctor he doesn't want me using xanax for emergencies either so im out of luck with the benzos.. the nausea is definitely from the anxiety i know that.. it's the worse in the morning and by night time im feeling pretty good.. I hope i get thru this.. im really hoping it's just from the withdrawing from the Klonopin n this isn't my normal anxiety.. at least I have hope it will eventually go away
Thank for all ur help
Hi Renee,
Are you good in following strict diets? Because there is a group of medications, called irreversible monoamine oxidase inhibitors (or just MAOIs). These are probably the most potent anti-anxiety and antidepression drugs ever invented. However, due to numerous interactions with other drugs (like nose drops) and common food (like cheese), they are rarely used these days as the first/second line of treatement. If you tried SSRIs (lexapro) and even neuroleptics (zyprexa) and still don't feel any better, trying MAOI sounds like the next logical step.
In order to proceed, you would need to find an experienced psychiatrist who would be willing to guide you through the switching process. Taking a combination of any SSRI/SNRI and MAOI is out of the question, you would need to stop lexapro and survive at least two weeks without any medication (yes, I realise that this wouldn't be easy...).
Anyway, it's just a suggestion. Feel free to do some more reading on it and discuss it with your GP/pdoc.
I hope you get better soon!
