Does anyone have anxiety almost all the time, even when at home?
I don’t even know what to do anymore, I’m on medication, I see a therpist and physiatrist.
I’ve been on 5mg of lexapro for years and was doing good for the last 4 years, I was raised to 10mg a month ago.
I lost my job and am having a hard time finding things to do during the day, my world has been turned upside down.
i’m sure the job loss has a lot to do with your anxiety now. I find when I don’t have enough to do, I start thinking too much and get anxious.
I discovered that when im busy, i feel way better, and also helping others takes my mind off myself for a while.
it feels good to help other people thru volunteering, or helping family members, friends, etc.
GET daily exercise! Even just walking, appreciating nature, etc . it releases endorphins in the brain, which gives us a natural high, decreases depression, anxiety.
we can enjoy our lives even when we are going thru hard times.
I TRY TO " Have an attitude of Gratitude". Think of what blessings you do have in your life and stay positive.
Play happy music,etc
Know that things have a way of working out !!
Your gonna be ok.
I am 100% sure that the peaked anxiety you have now is also related to the job loss. Is it because of the anxiety that you lost it? Or under other circumstances?
Try to fill in your time with something else that you can find: exercising, walking, volunteering, cooking, and I strongly suggest you try yoga and meditation.
I also suffer from panic attacks and feel tense all the time.. and the only thing that works for me to at least calm down my nerves is yoga and breathing exercises.
please search for Yoga with Adriene on youtube. she has lots of types even for anxiety.
Did the job loss result from your anxiety or vice versa?
It’s good that you’re pursuing treatment right now. It seems you’re doing all the right things. What has helped me was sticking to a routine, however hard it felt at times. I’ve been lifting weights every other day. I also have other routines. It helps to make sense of the day. Maybe taking a little walk once a day would be good for you as well. Just being outside, doing something that feels normal can help a lot.
So, you had a relapse while you were on the medication and then increased? Do you know what caused the relapse? Or was it spontaneous and not associated with anything?
3 hits of weed, I haven’t smoked weed in about 12 years and was stupid.
it put me into a severe panic attack and then I was okay afterwards, the next day I had 3 more panic attacks and ever since then my anxiety has been bad.
its one of those things where you wish you could turn back time and change what you did, one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done and I new better.
I’ve never tried weed personally but I presume that it has triggered an atypical response in your brain. Perhaps even an interaction between your medication and the weed. There are some good articles out there that point out the risks, but I assume you’ve already identified those.
I am fairly confident that your brain can undo the effects of this over time. Most people are calmed by weed but a friend of mine who tried it once was completely turned off by it as it made him very uncomfortable. He felt pursued and watched and was glad when the quasi-paranoid effect wore off. Goes to show that psychotropic substances have such a fascinating breadth of effects on the brain.
I think you’ll be fine in the long run. I wouldn’t worry that this has done permanent damage (if you happen to have such thoughts). Probably more of a temporary setback for you. I assume you’ve told your doctors about this.
Get well!
I’ve had a decent couple of days so far.
I took my boat out fishing today and while it was uncomfortable at first I became calmer as the day went on.
I didn’t tell my doctor about weed.
