I have bin suffering anxiety since last September I was having chronic panic attacks for 7 months well I was diagnosed of general anxiety disorder and emotional dysregulation end of Feb and I was put on fluoxetine to help well I started on the med and started feeling good effects I've only bin on for 8 weeks I was feeling happy being able to be myself well past 4 days my chest has bin hurting and I've had nothing but bad anxiety again and waking up with severe anxiousness I've tried upping the dose but my psychiatric said if I can't cope with the 5ml to go back to 2.5 but I'm wondering if there's more to then general anxiety cause no way can I get better then get back to square one again.. she is testing me for ADHD and personality disorder and autism.. to see if there's actually a ruling to why I still have severe anxiety.. I was abused by my parents for 17yrs and I wasn't able to have friends and I could not do work I failed all my exams due to not being able to learn or concentrate even now I can't have a job because I forget what I'm being teached and nothing seems to stay in my mind.. I can't focus if I try to concentrate and I can't do something I go mad and start throwing things and going crazy over it I have 5 young boys I want to be able to work but I can't.. also I don't trust anybody I'm around.. I can read people like a book the minute I look at them and then automatically I don't like them does anybody else have this feeling
Hi kirstie . I'm 21 and I completely understand where you are coming from . It's a black place of frustration where you grip to certain people for comfort x and feel terribly uncomfortable around most people . I can read people very well as well and I know what they are like very easily and oftentimes don't like them or feel comfortable around them . I have very bad anxiety . And get very bad obsessions abou people . I have been on fluoxetine for 5 weeks and 6 days and haven't seen a change yet but I am holding on to hope and love the two things that keep me going ! I'm afraid I'll never be able to work or feel comfortable around people . I'm also afraid I'll never have kids or be able to have children . I worry about my future and about people around me and bumping into them . It's very hard to let go of the pain of the past . I have pictures of when I was last happy as a child before aged 8 and I kiss them pictures so many times a day and say take me back to a happy normal place . I lash out and cry so many times a day . I push people close to me away and I shake and slap my head convinced I'm going back into hypnosis which landed me in a psych unit before Christmas . However I have to keep going im told I'm a smart girl and have completed a degree at age 20 and another course dealing with children with special needs . This year. I have to keep going and trying to let my mind heal . I've been revolving around my house for 5 weeks and am told by specialists I have anxiety . However no one really can understand your pain .
Hi Kirstie, I actually had the same sort of thing happen to me on these tablets. I was going really well then a few months ago I started waking up with anxiety and having a heavy chest. I had no crazy thoughts in my head though but just that real heavy chest and the feeling of not being able to breath. It turned out that I had indigestion and I was told that was a side effect. At first I would pop a xanax though I hate them as they are addictive but they did nothing... then as soon as I moved to an antacid voila it was gone! I found it worse when I was laying down and in the morning.
In regards to getting mad and throwing things in frustration... do you have someone to help you with your 5 young boys? Kids are always watching their parents and that is how their belief system starts and stays with us often through adulthood. If your kids see you getting angry and throwing things then that is teaching them that when frustrated that is what you do in life. Please make sure if you are going to react like that that you try and do it away from your children.
As for having problems learning... there are so many different ways of learning things and maybe you have just not found that magic fit yet. For me the way I often remember things is to make rhymes up with them or try and associate them with something else. Learning is hard and even as an adult I struggle. Also for many of us if we are truly not interested in what we are trying to learn then it is not going to stick... but if we find something that is of great interest then it often stays with us. Maybe you were just overwhelmed with trying to learn to many things at once... maybe you are a learn one thing at a time person get really good at it and commit it to memory then move onto something new. Do not think you are stupid you just need to learn a different way... that way is out there and you just need to find it and not be so hard on yourself.
As for reading people like a book... I used to have that attitude when I was younger as well. I am now 47. I thought I just instantly knew what people were like and that I always had it right. The truth is that I was very much in the wrong many times... once I got to know someone I was so off the mark on what they were like that I was almost embrassed by it all. I found after a lot of therapy that I was projecting my own crap onto other people and deciding that they were that way and I was missing out on making a lot of friends. Everyone has their own stuff going on in life... many people do not have their "real" face on when you first meet them as many they are uncomfortable with strangers or think they will be judged on their looks or a word they say etc.... now of course sometimes we nail it when we meet someone knew they might creep us out or you just know they are someone you should avoid.... but... automatically just thinking you have it right and shutting people down from the start is a very lonely place to be.... trust me... I have been there.
