Hello, I have been taking sertraline 50 mg for almost 8 weeks now and I thought it was really helping but the past week or so, it has come back and is affecting me the entire time im awake now. I feel unable to breathe through my nose properly, feel as though I am unable to get enough air into and out of my lungs, I get pains across my chest and down the centre of my chest area - I have what feels like an obstruction in my throat when I breathe deeply or eat plus, the way I feel is as though I have a growth/tumour in my lungs. I have been having hot flushes but not through my whole body - mainly around my joints/down my limbs as well as dizzy, zombified moments.
I am only 24 years old and the doctors keep telling my anything more serious is very unlikely but I feel as though that is just based on my age and general appearance as I know I do look healthy.
My muscles have become very tense and sore, a very small physical activity can make them burn and my neck at times is so stiff, it hurts to much to turn it.
I guess I am just hoping for a bit of comfort if other people are experiencing the same thing but I just don't know how much longer I can stand feeling like this?? Am I always going to feel as though I can't breath properly and the rest?
I hate it as it feels someone or something is sitting on my chest! Lump in throat so feels like something is stuck.....its worrying I also cough when anxious 😩
Jodie I'm the same as you , I'm on 100mg sertraline have been for 4 months some good days some bad, the throat thing and swallowing I think is caused by Globus sensation brought on by anixity (have a look at the forum on here for that it's what I think I hsve) I also use a antihistamine Nozal spray twice a day that helps , I'm constantly swallowing coughing to clear my throat and then that leads to bad anixity sore neck pain in shoulders and very tense tummy muscles feels like I have a knot in my tummy all the time and find it hard to breathe, let me no what u think x
Hi Jodie, I am these meds have not had any of side affects, I been them for a while now. I suggest to get advice from your gp.
Hi Jodie
I have some of the symptoms you describe and have been suffering quite badly this past week but I have been trying to exercise a little as this does relieve stress and tension plus it uses up excess adrenaline which feeds anxiety. If it is uncomfortable maybe try and do some gentle stretching a couple of times a day for 2 or 3 days first. It has made me feel better. I have also found a free app called destressify which has some mindfulness techniques and other relaxation techniques which may help. 10 minutes morning and night before sleep has helped me drift off and have a good night.
I hope some of this is useful to you, things will improve a little at a time and yes you will have setbacks but we all need to believe we are strong enough to come through this and get out the other side.
Good luck x
