Over the last several months I've been having various anxiety symptoms such as heart palpitations, panic attacks, headaches which lead to me having shingles. I was having these symptoms while I was medicated with anti depressant that I was taking since 2015. I stopped taking the med in mid July of this year. During this period of withdrawal I've felt fatigued, loss of concentration, depressed, indigestion, ib s symptoms, muscle weakness, pimple breakouts, hives, crying spells, headaches, pronounced eye floaters, and blurred vision.
I read that coming from my medication can cause severe headaches. Though nothing regarding blurred vision. Now, just early this evening i had a bad headache then my vision on my right eye went blury. I'm fearing that I might have a deadly brain tumor.
I'm seeking some reassurance from anyone that this is not something serious but just in the middle of my medication withdrawal or an anxiety atta ck. My primary did blood work last month due to the shingles and everything came out perfect. I fear that test didn't pick anything up.
Hi Manny,
It is quite normal for Anxiety sufferers to push for medical tests and then not believe the clear result or think it has missed something.
Often withdrawal symptoms can be really bad as the body tries to restore its natural balance of chemicals without the drugs. The body can also crave the medication effects.
Sometimes withdrawal from meds is problem free, it's different for everyone.
Often the list of possible side effects from meds are enough to make you think 'is it worth it?' Or do I battle on without meds?
I chose to come off meds at the end of 2017 Trazodone, Diazepam (Valium) etc.. The journey was not an easy one but gradual taper off as advised by doctor was manageable. I have been medication free all 2018 and its worth it!.
I would try not to worry too much about the poss withdrawal symptoms, plus nothing stops us Anxiety bunnies getting other ailments like IBS which may not be linked.
You'll be fine be strong
See your doc if unsure
All the best
I was in the lowest does of Trintellix (5mg) were if you read the literature and verified by the pharmacist who would give me rx that anyone could just stop taking the medication without tapering, however if it was 10mg or up, then yea, taper is needed.
Though, as you see pharmacist and the people who created Trintellix were wrong. I'm still getting withdrawal symptoms though they're slowly calming down. She did mention that the only I'd be getting these symptoms is if I took the medication long term - which I did.
Well, I'll just tough it out, though sometimes the symptoms are scary.
Like now, I have IBS like symptoms or nausea with the waning headaches or loss of coordination.
