i have had depression and anxiety for a number of years. i was diagnosed in 2014 (i think) i have been on different medication over the years.
i have had therapy (CBT) twice, one in 2018 and the other 2019 as well as counselling in 2019.
Late august i felt really bad with anxiety, i wasnt eating much, wasnt sleeping, wasnt looking after myself, I would just get up and sit down for the day, not say or do anything. I was having suicidal thoughts, I have had them before but these were the worst. I couldnt control the anxiety at all. i phoned my gp up and got given a short course of diazepam. they calmed me down a bit. my gp said she would contact the mental health team to get back to me urgently. that was 1st september. over the weeks my gp was in contact with me at least once a week. I was given a sleeping tablet as well as another short term of diazepam.
i heard from the mental health specialist, i told him everything and he came across that he didnt care and wasnt listening to me. he told me "you will learn to control the anxiety, medication doesnt matter." even though I told him that i hadnt been able to control the anxiety without the diazepam. I told my GP last week. she was apologetic and sent me a link to a therapy group. I will be applying for therapy this week. She is waiting to hear from the mental health specialist via letter before changing the medication as i do not think they are do anything, I have been on them since May time I believe. I am currently on 45MG Mirtazapine. I have brought an anxiety bracelet that I dip in some anxiety oil in the morning and i have been wearing that for around a week now. What are some herbal supplements that help with anxiety? I am taking 1 Ashwagandha tablet a day. started them on friday. I spoke with the pharmacist who said they are ok to take. i did ask about st johns wort but got told to avoid them. Anyone others that are worth a look at?
