Anxiety & Heart Rate!!!

Quick question, does anxiety change your resting heart rate. When relaxed and feeling well my heart rate is usually 55 - 65. For the past few days it's been about 70 - 80 although I am not all that anxious. And doing things around the house, my heart rate goes well over 100. Is this a normal stress/anxiety reaction? How long does it take my body to go back to normal? I'm scared to workout because my heart rate goes over 100 just by walking now.

Hi, an Adults resting heart rate is 60-80 bpm

Your heart rate goes over 100 because you are doing stuff this is normal as you are no longer resting.

Your heat is smart, it knows how much oxygenated blood your body needs at any given time...

Anxiety can increase your resting heart rate.  Heart rate rises with activity.

if you just sit down for a while, it should come down.

if your doctor told you your heart is fine, then you should be able to walk without concern.  Sometimes people with anxiety Have heart rates  well into the 140s .

Remember, symptoms brought on by anxiety cannot hurt you!

Do a test....

listen to meditations for anxiety, and listen to "5 minute breathing meditation " both found on you tube.  See if your heart rate decreases.

The increase in heart rate is caused by adrenaline released by the brain when you are feeling anxious. It cannot hurt you.

You just need to learn how to manage your anxiety.

Heart rate raises with the level of adrenaline in your blood, which is controlled by the brain. If the brain thinks that you need to be prepared for a 'fight or flight' scenario, it will result in raising the heart rate. This is why all sort of talking therapies can be so successful with treating the physical symptoms of pathological anxiety.

Saying that, a resting heart rate of 60-70 is ok for any young adult. Heart rate of 100 is ok for a young adult doing some light physical activity. It depends on your weight and the level of training, but unless you reach 140+ bpm, you're fine.
