I did have friends and family to talk to about my situation but I felt the only people that could understand Nd were people who had been there or going threw the same thing.

Im not a profession but I am here if anyone needs to talk.

This is website helped me so much and I met a lot of friendly helpful people and I'm hoping to do the same to others.

Feel free red to message me D x

hello,

How did you overcome anxiety?

Hi,

it took me along time but I can finally say I am anxiety free I took a medication called sertraline which I now don't take anymore, medication isn't for everyone as the side effects are different for different people. Cognative behaviour therapy is my best advice I couldn't be more thankful what they did for me.

Hi, thank you for sharing- my anxiety was sky high, the worst it's ever been not too long ago & I was convinced i could never overcome it. I am now recently feeling slightly better but still suffer from high HR/mild anxiety- (which I am now on beta blockers for) it's really great to hear about people who have completely overcome anxiety as it really gives me hope that some day I will too- I was also thinking of CBT, which I now will defiantly request! Thank you!!

Thks for posting Dusty.  Hoe long were you on sertraline and what dosage.  How long before it made a difference in your life.

thks

lynda

Hi Dusty really happy to read how much better you are feeling ,gives us all hope thank you for sharing it with us .i have suffered the awfulness of anxiety for years at different levels, it has come back with a vengeance this time and am very close to stopping going out of the house as feel so dizzy all the time. Still often feel dizzy in the house but at least can lie down . Every time I go out cannot stand or walk without feeling lightheaded and feeling as if the ground is moving beneath my feet . I have seen a psychologist about 3 months ago though I was feeling better but very afraid now as feeling lost

Me again am thinking of going back to Dr,s to ask for medication as have never taken do you feel taking medication helped you ,thanks for reading

Hi Marilyn

Yes medication did help me in the long run but for the first 8 weeks the side effects where brutal I experienced so many of them I was on a medication called sertraline which doesn't agree with everyone medication is not a quick mix as you have to get the right one at the right dose this could take months by the time you find the right one and they settle into your system. Yes I would advise you go back to your GP and they will advise what's best for you.

Hi lynda

I was on 50mg, 100mg then up to 150mg. Sertraline dosage goes up to 200mg. It took 8 - 10 weeks to feel the full benefit but gradually about 4 weeks I started to feel an effect. My doctor didn't advise this but 9 month later I came of Sertraline cold turkey and didn't experience one side effect. Like I was always told there is no quick fix for Anxiety even though we wish there was, it takes time and patience. I know it's hard as the last thing you want to do is feel patient. You just want to get back to yourself and feel Anxiety free.

Good luck

I'm sorry to here you felt this was its a horrible way to feel and you really aren't alone. Don't give up home I felt exactly the same that I would never be rid of it but it is possible.

I never tried beta blockers how did you find them?

It is possible and I will never forget my Anxiety experience but it's good to be able to share my story and give other hope.

I couldn't recommend CBT enough

Good Luck
